2. That's for sure, when the MTP podcast comes out later, would be
good for everyone to listen to it.

4. Yep, I tuned in late ......
but caught all of Zinni's comments. He rocked!!

MTP also showed a clip of a VFW event which honored Zinni. In it, Cheney said flat out "There's no doubt Saddam has WMDs." Zinni knew that was a lie and that the chimp and his minions were set on war.

He is a straight talking, precise thinking man and I hope he gets more exposure.

6. they actually SHOWED that? wow... that was the speech that
Edited on Sun Apr-02-06 02:19 PM by Gabi Hayes
really started the whole show rolling

amazing

maybe fatso's starting to feel some pressure to actually start telling a little truth

hard to imagine, though, as tethered as he is to the GE corporate teat

Zinni has written about that, and he was INFURIATED by that bunch of BS

example:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A22922-2003Dec22?language=printer

He was alarmed that day to hear Cheney make the argument for attacking Iraq on grounds that Zinni found questionable at best:
"Simply stated, there is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction," Cheney said. "There is no doubt that he is amassing them to use against our friends, against our allies, and against us."

Cheney's certitude bewildered Zinni. As chief of the Central Command, Zinni had been immersed in U.S. intelligence about Iraq. He was all too familiar with the intelligence analysts' doubts about Iraq's programs to acquire weapons of mass destruction, or WMD. "In my time at Centcom, I watched the intelligence, and never -- not once -- did it say, 'He has WMD.' "

Though retired for nearly two years, Zinni says, he remained current on the intelligence through his consulting with the CIA and the military. "I did consulting work for the agency, right up to the beginning of the war. I never saw anything. I'd say to analysts, 'Where's the threat?' " Their response, he recalls, was, "Silence."
Zinni's concern deepened as Cheney pressed on that day at the Opryland Hotel. "Time is not on our side," the vice president said. "The risks of inaction are far greater than the risks of action."

Zinni's conclusion as he slowly walked off the stage that day was that the Bush administration was determined to go to war. A moment later, he had another, equally chilling thought: "These guys don't understand what they are getting into."

8. Yep, these are some of the exact same quotes........
MTP put up on the screen. Russert referenced Zinni's book and then Zinni elaborated on how 10 years of planning had been thrown out. The more I reflect on it the more scathing is the criticism Zinni laid on the chimp and his minions.

3. And people are actually considering voting for the guy!
According to most polls this guy is leading for the Republican nomination for POTUS, I used to worry that he may be hard to beat if nominated but no longer.

I can only hope he keeps talking, like Bu$h he's his own worst enemy.

5. MTP on MSNBC tonight: 9PM CST
I think there's a rerun of the Franken appearance, too; his one on one show

NOT to be missed...Franken slapped him around like Raggedy Andy; with the TRUTH.
NOBODY took it to him the way Franken did, and the best part about it is, he made him take it with a SMILE! god, that was gratifying

7. If you didn't read Zinni on Containment, go back and read it. He
nails them by saying that their contention that containment wasn't working was an insult to the troops who were there doing the containment. Touche'
