Maya Priests “Cleanse” Cancun of Bush Evils

Cancun, Mexico, Mar 31 (Prensa Latina) People in Cancun, where tight security has been in force for the last two days, are breathing a clearer air Friday, after five Maya priests cleansed the city of “evils in US President George W Bush.”

Members of the Ceremonial Center of Nuevo Valladolid made the “cleansing” at Las Palapas Park, where they erected an altar, burnt incense and drank a beer called the balche, which is used to purify the spirit.

“We are getting rid of Bush evils,” said Priest Romualdo May.

The ritual is among actions held in Cancun and across Mexico to condemn the presence of Bush, who is attending the Mexico-US-Canada meeting opened today.

53. Fluoride
In drinking water, if you're lucky and its not there its still in bottled water that you buy, in sodas, beers and reconstituted juices most of which are made out of municipal tap water from fluoridated sources.

Most people also ingest it one or more times a day through their toothpastes and mouthwashes. Then when they to the dentist for their checkup, they are also conned into have an unnecessary fluoride treatment.

I believe that this article was originally published by Nexus magazine.

http://www.theforbiddenknowledge.com/hardtruth/fluoridation.htm

I mean really, how can anyone believe that these evil bastards care about kid's teeth? They don't care about any other part of a child after they are born...

11. We are in the 4th Night of the Age of Ethics
according to the Mayan calendar. This is when the Truth comes out-we have seen Bush as powerless against Nature and incompetant as well. When the 5th Day starts Nov. 24, 2006, things will really start shifting and Ethics will win out over Power. The Mayan priests realize this and want to make sure their place is pure.

26. I Googled 12/22/12 and look what came up on top
I'm not religious, in the traditional sense, but this gives one pause to consider the possibility that there's something to it.

For those not given to seeing significance in such numerological coincidence, there's a host of explanations for the meaning of the End of the Mayan Calendar at: http://www.halexandria.org/dward415.htm

Luke 12:22 - 12:34

22He said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear.
23For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.
24Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds!
25And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life?
26If then you are not able to do so small a thing as that, why do you worry about the rest?
27Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these.
28But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith! 29And do not keep striving for what you are to eat and what you are to drink, and do not keep worrying.
30For it is the nations of the world that strive after all these things, and your Father knows that you need them.
31Instead, strive for his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. 32“Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
33Sell your possessions, and give alms. Make purses for yourselves that do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.
34For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

I think the record of when the first day in the calendar happened was lost during the Conquest. I'm not sure any Maya know with certainty what day it actually is in their calendar anymore.

Maybe someone here knows the answer to that better than I do.

29. ignorant comment
You are confusing the Maya with the Aztec. The sacrifices of the latter, by the way, were grossly exaggerated by Spanish accounts in an effort to justify Colonial conquest and countless atrocities toward them. Nothing the Aztec ever did in the way of sacrifices and warfare could ever compare to the scale of those enacted by western "civilizations."

Warfare among the Maya was considerably different from modem combat where opposing forces attempt to annihilate their enemies entirely on the field of battle. First of all, the Maya world was divided into polities, or city-states, that would at times be at peace with each other or under different circumstances fight with each other. The aim of this rather limited warfare was to take prisoners. Low status captives generally wound up as slaves to their captor, but high-status captives were scheduled for ritual sacrifice. The deliberate taking of a human life was deemed necessary to sanctify certain ritual occasions, such as the ascendancy to the throne by a new ruler or the dedication of a new building. Naturally the capture of a rival ruler was highly prized, as the sacrifice of the unfortunate individual lent extra importance to the occasion. The usual method of such a sacrifice was decapitation in a public ceremony. Aside from decapitation, the favored method irnPostclassic times was a trick acquired from the Mexican cultures to the north, the removal of the heart. Women and children were sacrificed just as often as men The intended victim was stripped and painted blue before being led to a courtyard or temple where the victim would be placed face-up over a convex altar-like stone also painted blue. The arms and legs of the victim were held by specially designated priests while a fourth, called the nacom, would penetrate the victim's chest with a flint knife just below the left breast. Reaching inside the chest cavity, the nacom would pull out the still beating heart and hand it to another priest, who would then smear the blood on that idol to which the sacrifice had been made. If the sacrifice had taken place on the top of a pyramid, the corpse would be thrown to the courtyard below where priests of lower rank would skin the victim except for the hands and feet. The skin would then be worn by the officiating priest who would solemnly dance among the spectators. If the victim had been an especially brave warrior his body might be butchered and eaten by the nobles and other spectators.

71. hard to comprehend...
how strange that would have been. You gotta remember how long ago this was, and how very different our respective societies are. Besides, isn't our gov't sacrificing thousands every day by not taking care of the our common environment, abandoning social programs for the mighty dollar, allowing uninsured millions to be abused by the health care system/pharmaceutical companies, not to mention sacrificing our soldiers in foreign lands for wars benefitting only the ruling class... our current gov't just isn't as open about its murderous ways. Try not to judge an entire culture and region based on your limited understanding of their customs.

Way back when, agrarian societies used sacrifice as a ward against poor harvests and unhappy gods. The people themselves often opted for sacrifice... this was not necessarily a ruler gone mad. When people live close enough to the ground to recognize life and death as part of the same thing, passing (due to sacrifice or not) isn't as shocking as it is to us in this reality of television and computers.

I like your stuff Neil, but i can understand how your post may have offended someone, especially if they were of Mayan ancestry.

Even if this were true, which it's not, how on earth would modern agricultural peasants lucky enough to have survived the conquest and 500 years of Euro-colonial oppression be responsible for the actions of pre-hispanic despots? Despots existed in every ancient state, although dynasties vary and more benevolent kings were known as well. Power and wealth always carry the potential for corruption and exploitation.

70. I don't disagree with you on the history of human sacrifices; however
you are taking it out of context in this thread.

I noted that you didn't bother to mention that the practice of human sacrifice by the peoples you mentioned STOPPED a long time ago...whereas Bush will sacrifice many middle easterners and soldiers to worship HIS God today: oil and money.

I would like to think that we, as a species, have matured somewhat over the ensuing centuries.

Or would they do it as religious obligation?

60. There are tears in my eyes as I type this
because I laughed so hard that I hurt myself.

Am leaving for Cancun on Wednesday (actually Isla Mujeres, but I have to land in Cancun and then catch a ferry.) Am going to print out the story and take it to my amigos on the island...they'll all get a huge laugh.

Thanks for posting this!

Hell, they could spend the rest of their lives cleansing Texas! I would suggest they come here but the immigration threads are starting to scare the living crap out of me. :D
