Anyone watching the FX show "Black. White." ?
Its really good. I recommend it.

Its a "reality" show, where two families, 1 black, 1 white, swap races (via incredible makeup application, its really freaky.)

They then go "do things" while "undercover" as the opposite race to see what "the other side" has to deal with in society.

Its really quite intriguing.

1. was that the thing in a bar, with a guy who was obviously made up
as black, talking to an Asian-looking woman. she held up her engagement ring (wedding?)

I couldn't watch it

reminded me of movies like Victor/Victoria; what kind of idiot couldn't see through the makeup immediately

I did read on another thread what an ahole one of the white guys was, though

2. Not sure about that incident, but the makeup is flawless.
You can't tell.

And yes, the white male parent is an idiot, and I'm convinced he is a republican.

come on, I started laughing right away when I saw that

it reminded me of the Wayans brothers' makeup in reverse, when they did that passing for white movie

No, you must be thinking of something else.
This guy does not have phony teeth or a white hat.

4. It's pretty good, but both set of parents have problems.
The only one of the whole group who has it together is Rose, the white girl. The black kid is an 8th grade dropout, and doesn't seem to be doing anything with his life at all.

The white dad is mainly obnoxious because he thinks he's supposed to show the black guy how to be black without taking offense.

The black dad really wants to see and hear racism, as does the black mother, but the dad doesn't have a chip on his shoulder. The mother has a major chip on her shoulder.

The white mother is fairly typical of white suburban women who don't want to appear racist, but just don't get it.
