do you personally know of anyone who talks or acts like bush?
i never have met anyone in my whole life like bush, honestly, never ever. is he just the most singular human freak ever, or have i lived a sheltered life, cut off from persons like himself?

the way he talks, off script or on is just bizarre. the way he walks and moves, his facial contortions, his apelike body language, his blunted sense of humor, his arrogance, his paranoia, his illiteracy, his lack of interest, he is like no person i have ever known.

have you ever run across anyone like this guy?

2. No
No one in his family is like him either. Why is he the only one with that accent? He spent much of his youth in the Northeast.

6. The accent is fake.
Some people even think he's a REAL cowboy since he has a ranch.

They say in his younger days he didn't have that accent.

9. That isn't even a "ranch"
Edited on Sun Jan-08-06 10:21 AM by DesertRat
Ranch: "An extensive farm, especially in the western United States, on which large herds of cattle, sheep, or horses are raised."

* doesn't have any animals there. I lived in Texas for awhile and what he has is called a "spread".

4. Yep, theres always at least 2 in every
detox center who acts walks and talks like GW. They are the ones who try to control the other detox inmates and think the staff as well as everyone of them doesn't have a clue and are trying to undermine their athority. Its always someone elses fault when things go wrong and they isolate themselves from reality.

10. You raise a very important issue.
In my six decades on this planet, I've noticed that I have difficulty understanding and dealing with people lacking a modicum of integrity. Why? Because I lack the requisite experience. I've diligently avoided such people. While such avoidance may have certainly improved the quality of my life, it has also deprived me of the opportunity to develop coping skills when such avoidance wasn't possible.

We'd probably all benefit from a better comprehension of Abnormal Psychology ... and plenty of practice. I think we're going to get much more of that practice, whether we like it or not.

23. Me too! I avoid people like that. The few I knew were very toxic and
those around them always ended up being taken advantage of.

Having said that, I realize that the few I knew were considerably better spoken. I just don't think I've ever known anybody who spoke so badly.

13. I notice certain similarities in a young man who got messed up on drugs...
in boarding school, had problems also with alcohol, and had learning problems from childhood. He lacks the arrogance, and ignorance, but just by his manner, and way of speaking, you know something is wrong.

18. I've had colleagues
with drinking problems. They ran off at the mouth, blamed anyone and everyone for their problems, lied like they breathed, and needed to be the center of attention--but nobody I've known ever massacred the English language like he does. I'd swear it's sometimes done on purpose to better connect with his mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging base--to get down to their wavelength. SG

20. I have known a couple of them from when I was in the Army...
The military is a great place to meet people of all cultures and socio-economic backgrounds. In the very few instances where I have come across this type of personality, there are certain threads that run through the type:

Severe ignorance
A severe lack of accomplishment
A feeling that one has to "prove" oneself
A penchant for self aggrandizement
A desire to be viewed as much more than they truly are
A lack of accepting responsibility
A desire to succeed w/o effort
A defense mechanism that allows for internalizing conflict
A refusal to see or accept reality

In bush's case, all of the above, and other symptoms of neurosis appear regularly. He knows he is in far over his head, but he will never accept that he is inept and he will blame everyone around him for his his own failures. His lack of intellectual curiosity is based on the fact that he just might realize that he has failed on virtually every aspect of his life, and this would break him in two...he has set up a defense mechanism that cannot allow failure in one instance, otherwise he would have to accept complete failure throughout his life. His holding the position of president is the basis for his thinking that he is a success. It never occurred to him that holding the office and how one uses that power are two different aspects of the presidency. Just because one holds the office of president, does not mean they are a "leader", often it is quite the contrary.

I would like to see a psychological profile on him, but since he would never commit to a psychological evaluation, (that would bring up the failure scenarios), all we can do is speculate.

I speculate that he is neurotic on several counts, and possibly psychotic for his refusal to see/accept reality in many cases.

Those dear folk who reside in Kennebunk, the Hamptons, Westchester, etc…..the in breeding of the “old riche” produce an abundance of genetic misanthropic oddities. It is one of the old urban myths that such only happens in the Ozarks or Blue Ridge…. GW is living proof of otherwise.

27. He is definitely exceptional but I have known many
of the same mold, if not quite so blatent. The person in this thread who mentioned the "old money" angle has a point. The people I know of this type live in the superwealthy, super conservative neighborhood and rarely, if ever, leave their zip code except to go to another zip code of equal stature somewhere else in the country(or world). Their world is very different from the one most of us live in.

29. My former boss. Fired for massive financial negligence.
This guy was an arrogant little snot with almost no skills except sucking up. He had a big truck, a ski boat, a Harley and several dirt bikes. All purchased on the company dime. He liked to brag about his cuban cigars and his trips to Reno.

He managed to misplace several hundred thousand dollars of company money AND run a real estate management company into the ground in an insane bull market. This Bush supporter and GOP stalwart is on disability now claiming he has "stress disorders" due to the workload he was neglecting.

I made sure everybody in our small town is under the impression that he is a thief (okay I can't prove this). Hopefully he will never manage anything ever again. A Bush clone if ever there was one.

31. I remember many years
ago I worked in a doctor's office. His secretary, a gal from the doctor's church (fundamentalist Christian, by the way), was very strange, sort of like Bush. Very self righteous, preachy, etc. She got herself fired when the doctor wondered what had happened to his earnings and discovered she was lifting cash from his cash box.

37. I've seen his behavior in others.
Bush is basically hostile, given to projecting his own sins onto other people (e.g., meeting Tom Daschle and telling him, "Never lie to me!") and trying to control them. Newsweek picked up on this when it did the cover story on Bush in the bubble -- i.e., that his "humor" is less calculated to draw laughter and more given to drawing attention to the butt of it. I find his little nicknames indicative less of a happy, sociable guy and more of a controlling, defensive type.
