immigration policy..should we have one?

I am still undecided on this issue. Once I supported NAFTA and now I oppose it. Where do most DUers stand on this?

This issue is political, religious, racial, economic, and personal. It effects us all directly and indirectly. So where do you stand?

1. We need a labor policy not an immigration policy

one that addresses H1-B visas and outsourcing along with immigration. That looks at imports of goods from low wage countries, and not just the import of low wage workers.

One that makes international trade rules that benefit workers not corporations.

One that prevents the downward spiral of wages and benefits to the point of mere subsistence.

One that doesn't pit workers against each other while uniting corporate interests.

2. this is what bothers me..

a person can work, pay taxes, and go to jail without a trial...but not be allowed to vote, send their children to school, or to blame a corporation for illegally hiring them! :shrug:

Most who have come here illegally are also potential voting Democrats..supporters of universal healthcare, and if organized, potential union members.
