Everything gwb touches is, eventually, a failure. So, wouldn't it stand to
reason, that he will ruin the GOP?

He has no history of success, no history of creating something, anything, from the bottom up and building on success along the way.

So, of course he will be the downfall of the GOP. He is the steward of the party and that bodes ill for the party's prognosis.

I have focused on the variety of ways he's ruined our country, however, I forgot that he is the leader of the GOP (at least in name). The pattern is established, and finally I'm pleased to see it continue unabated in its effect on the repubs.

Ah, sweet Karma, do your thing! MKJ

4. This is so true...
Everything he has 'achieved' in life has been handed to him. Legacy admission at Yale, pulls strings to get into the guard, when his start-up business tanks he gets bailed out by dad's rich friends, is invited into the Texas Ranger's partnership to cash in because of his connections, easy street all the way to the presidency. It it ANY shock this guy was out of his depth? Where would he have ever gained any measure of competence?

5. Everything he touches
turns to shit. It's his whole history.

How bad was he in his youth that he had this much crappy kharma chasing him and something wreaking havoc on everything having anything to do with him?

6. One would hope, but Diebold and the Bush Sub-Media are wild cards
If America was a strong and healthy democracy, with a vibrant system of checks and balances, this would be close to an absolute truth.

But Imperial Amerika is none of those things. In many ways it is already the functional opposite of those things.

And remember, there WILL be an October Surprise like in 2004, in 2008, and there will be a Shiny New War Product Rollout this September to cloud any discussion of issues for the 2006 "elections".

My point is that is is dangerous to make assumptions about unchecked, unbalanced tyrannies, such as Imperial Amerika (2001-?) using the old modes of thinking about the Old Republic (1776-2001, RIP)
