Tom Delay and "The War on Christians." Conference ......gag!
Redemption Among the Faithful

By Dana Milbank
Wednesday, March 29, 2006; A02

There are those who would say Tom DeLay lost his job as House majority leader because he was indicted by a Texas grand jury on charges of money laundering and conspiracy, or because of his extensive ties to lawbreaking lobbyist Jack Abramoff. But they would be wrong.

In fact, the Texas Republican fell from power because he is a Christian.

That, at least, is the view of Rick Scarborough, convener of a conference this week called "The War on Christians."

"I believe the most damaging thing that Tom DeLay has done in his life is take his faith seriously into public office, which made him a target for all those who despise the cause of Christ," Scarborough said, introducing DeLay yesterday. When DeLay finished, the host reminded the politician: "God always does his best work right after a crucifixion."

2. The ultimate non-falsifiable way to support your politics.
If you're having success, it's because God loves you.

If you're struggling, it's because Satan is testing you.

There's no way you will ever be convinced that you're wrong.

Anybody want to come?

I'm going to have bumperstickers made that read: Let the Fundie Xtians and the Fundie Muslims fight it out. Leave the rest of us alone!

Edited: to correct myself

5. This conference got prominent play on ABCNews last night
And oddly enough, they didn't feel the need to "balance" their report with comments from any liberal Christians about what a bunch of mealy-mouthed whiners Scarborough and his pals are. I don't know why.

Though in fairness to ABC, they did mention that the whiny-ass titty babies at the conference helped install the current crop of corruption, and their major beef is that they havne't yet gotten their taste, or at least not enough for their satisfaction.

Okay, they didn't put it like that (naturally), but the subtext was there. These are a bunch of disgruntled thieves disappointed that they haven't gotten their cut.

7. works for me....
But then I don't have any issues with being accused of "despising the cause of Christ" either. Fundy xtians are a weeping boil on society's arse, IMO.

8. Tom Delay's Christianity- Saipan
Yes, Tom Delay has taken his faith and legitimized everything lacking in ethics and morality. Here’s his quote on supporting sweatshops in Saipan.

“Pardon me, but does this man have a vote in the United States Congress? I don’t think so....You are up against the forces of big labor and the radical left. Dick Armey and I made a promise to defend the islands’ present system. Stand firm. Resist evil. Remember that all truth and blessings emanate from our Creator. God bless you and the people of the Northern Marianas.”

9. There's only one word for comparing Delay's fall from grace
to the crucifixion...idolatry.

11. Call me a dreamer, but I still cling to the faint hope that
one of these days people might start waking up to the fact that they're taking "moral advice" from the party of felons . . .

12. its the repukes efforts to get RW to get out and vote this fall
they know people will NOT be showing up from the repuke side to vote...so they are trying to give them an incentive. They do this everytime there is an election.
