DUers, you are incredible. To raise over $2000 over a weekend to say thank you to Helen Thomas - you should all be so proud! I am so VERY grateful for all of your help, not only donating money, but volunteering to help arrange the flowers, volunteering to find those volunteers to arrange the flowers, and spreading the word. You all totally rock. I am so touched by this experience and I just want to say how grateful I am for having each and everyone of you here. Thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart!

the look on Ms. Thomas' face when the roses arrive. I sent out an email to a few people that are not members of DU and they too donated.

Thank you for all the coordination of the great event. It's easy these days to sit and complain about events and actions, but now and again, we need to show our support for those that are doing the right thing and especially those fighting to get the truth told.

These things don't come easily. We needed a hero - Helen Thomas - to ask the tough questions, and show all what a real American looks like. And we needed someone to come up with a way to show our appreciation for her actions, and that was helderheid, who put everything together and made it happen.

I hope Helen has a wonderful surprise tomorrow. She will be walking on air the next few days knowing how much her efforts are appreciated. What greater feeling is there than knowing people appreciate you?

39. i liked the idea from the beginning...but as time has progressed...it just

gets better and better...it was her question at the press conference and then bringing up pnac on blitzer..selfishly, i wanted more....and i saw her on ko and cspan with daschle the following day or two..refusing to shut up and not ask questions but graciously, knowingly, respectfully yielding ( shes a woman..journalist..right? for 57 years?)...and i felt sad when i saw her with daschle because he was just politicizing and she was saying and asking the truth...and he was bloviating...im just so fed up with that...she was like a breath of fresh air next to him...so as i thought about the last 6 decades for her...and her career..and her tenacity and integrity..and courage...and helderheid kept these threads alive...and there was such comraderie here...and understanding and compassion of who she is and why we recognize her...its been a joyful ride...cant wait until tomorrow

And how he and the press loved each other. That conversation was the result of your idea to give Helen roses. I can't express how happy this makes me.
