When did FreakRepublic officially become a wing of the Pentagon?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2006/03/26/wsaddam26.xml&sSheet=/news/2006/03/26/ixworld.html

<snip>

Earlier this month, the Pentagon released copies in the original Arabic onto the internet in the hope that others would interpret them into English.

...

The papers have been translated by Arabic-speaking members of Free Republic, a conservative internet discussion forum that believes the documents will justify British and American claims that Saddam had made Iraq a haven for terrorists.

Is the Pentagon too lazy, staff shortage, that they have the Freepers translating these "Saddam Papers" ?

2. Snicker
If these were valuable papers, they would not be on the internet. They're just hoping to catch lightening in a bottle. Suicide camels indeed.

5. I know at one time that many Arab-Americans were Republicans
but since the illegal detention, the harassment of Muslims, the threats to mosques, etc, etc, I can't see any Arab-Americans or even Muslim-Americans being in Freeperland. Maybe that's where al Qaeda has gone-would you trust the translations?

8. Hmm. There are plenty of Arabic speakers at the NSA and the State
Department. Why wouldn't the Pentagon use them first? This makes no sense. Wouldn't some of this material be classified? I find this hard to believe. Consider the source (London Telegraph).

If it is true, there should be a major ruckus about this. No way should the Pentagon be releasing untranslated captured documents to the internet. They could be aiding the terrorists (for real).

They are giving them to the Freakers, so they can falsify the translations
I wouldn't put it past the FreakRepukers to falsify or "bend" the translations to meet their pro-fascist bullshit agenda. The Pentagon is outsourcing their propaganda efforts to FreakRepublic so the disinformation (when it is caught) is one step removed and gives the Pentagon deniablity.

11. This is bizarre. The pentagon releases copies of Arabic...
papers to be translated by Freepers. Most of the freeper posts I have read seems as if the writers barely made it past 4th grade and they are translating Arabic writings. Heaven help us, I hope none of them were the "Moran" guy.

15. That's not what it said
The Pentagon simply released the original Arabic papers. They are available for anyone to read, or translate if they so wish.

Apparently some members of Freepville went ahead and bothered to translate them, but that's different than the Pentagon releasing them specifically to FR. It could have just as easily been members of DU who translated them.

Camels of mass destruction?

It would be a great time to be a comedian, excellent even. The money that you could save on material could buy you your dream home. :D

18. Members of Free Republic speak Arabic?
Members of Free Republic aren't educated or open minded enough to speak ANY foreign languages. They must be talking about that token Iraqi guy they trot out at their counter protests in DC. You know, the guy who swells their numbers to six or seven attendees, the one Iraqi who is friends with the DC chapter head who speaks for all Iraqis when he says they all love Bush. Oh yeah... I'm sure there is no bias whatsoever in those interpretations.

20. It's a dialect known as "fascist".
Strikingly similar to pre-WWII German mixed with Klantonese.
