Tancredo: ‘Hillary Clinton Doesn’t Know the First Thing About the Bible’
Edited on Sun Mar-26-06 11:34 AM by kpete
Isaiah 49:10: “They will neither hunger nor thirst, nor will the desert heat or the sun beat upon them. He who has compassion on them will guide them and lead them beside springs of water.”

Conservative-backed immigration bills being debated in the Senate would make it a federal crime — punishable by up to five years in prison — to offer aid to undocumented immigrants. Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) slammed the legislation last week: “It is certainly not in keeping with my understanding of the Scripture because this bill would literally criminalize the Good Samaritan and probably even Jesus himself.”

STEPHANOPOULOS: Congressman Tancredo, she’s basically saying your approach is un-Christian.

TANCREDO: I’m not really surprised that Hillary Clinton doesn’t know the first thing about the Bible. Her impression — her analysis, her interpretation of both the law and the Bible are certainly wrong to say the least. This has nothing to do — the bill we passed out of the House has nothing to do with criminalizing Good Samaritans.

3. Why didn't George jump on him, and ask him why he felt the need
to be so self-rightous?

5. Wow, George has not one, but TWO Republicans on
Yesiree, that's fairness. That's balance. And what do these folks wind up talking about? Why, Hillary Clinton, of course!

So, when do you suppose George will have Sen. Clinton on to snipe at Tancredo without Tommy boy being there to defend himself? Anyone? Bueller?

To see how dismissive he was being. I thought he ended up looking like an idiot after Stephanopolus more or less agreed with Senator Clinton's take on what the bill was saying.

7. Did ya hear Spector smack Tancredo?
He said the House passed a bill that was way to broad, and the senate will define it much better. It wasn't an outright fight, but I cought it, and I bet Tancredo did too!

8. The Good Samaritan passage, Tancredo - read it asswipe! Luke 10:25-37
Luke 10:25-37

<25> On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?"

<26> "What is written in the Law?" he replied. "How do you read it?"

<27> He answered: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"

<28> "You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live."

<29> But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"

<30> In reply Jesus said: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. <31> A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. <32> So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. <33> But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. <34> He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him. <35> The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. 'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.'

<36> "Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?"

<37> The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him."

Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise."

9. Here are some Bible verses for Congressman Tancredo.
Matthew 23:

13"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.

16"Woe to you, blind guides! You say, 'If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.' 17You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred? 18You also say, 'If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.' 19You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred?

27"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean. 28In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

33"You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?

11. Does anyone but me think that George S. turned into a weasly snide
little pr*ck after the Bill/Monica affair? I mean, I understand that he felt betrayed (and he was after all) when he went out and denied all that crap during the Ken Starr hearings. But why decide that he's gonna be a little jerk and become a republican batboy? How petty was that?

I mean you would have thought that George was the one Bill cheated on, not Hillary.

12. Ah Tancredo
From The Man Himself (Matthew 29:39-40)

"Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?"

"And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."

13. How dare he!?!?
and giggling all the while...

God forgive me- i have never felt violent toward ANYONE for mere words- but, when Tancredo said that i really felt like smashing his face.

But that would make me a lesser human than him. And by those words, he has proved himself less than human.

Thank you, Tancredo, for giving me this opportunity to test my humanity. Though, admittedly, the bar couldn't have been lower.

14. So, how much does Tancredo know about the Establishment Clause
in the Bill of Rights, I wonder. I'd much rather my congresspersons have a grasp of Constitutional principles than Biblical folklore.

15. Forget Hillary and the bible
Seems Tancredo doesn't know much about the bill. "... nothing to do with criminalizing Good Samaritans?" Seems it has everthing to do with criminalizing Good Samaritans.

17. This really has the hate-filled Right all riled-up.
Take a look at this online newpaper comment from a small town in Minnesota....some hater named Mike P..http://www.echopress.com/pollresults.cfm?Poll_Id=120&id=402&hasvoted=0&CFID=156910&CFTOKEN=27234967

How these horrible people can sleep at night is beyond me. You can smell the fear on him. If he loses his weapon of choice...the bible...he'll have nothing.

18. Too cute
I think Clinton's right but I think referencing the Bible just ends up validating their (mis)use of the Bible. I'd rather have a policy debate based on facts than interpretation of Scripture.
