Dumbfounded by this right wing logic
"innocent japs?????????

give me a break, and stop the kumbaya attitude!!

they (japan) attacked us, you win a war two ways, kill its military OR crush its peoples will to fight!

you libs hate us killing the insurgency in Iraq, you hated us winning so fast in BOTH gulf wars, so you are trying to defeat OUR troops HERE.
typical Jane Fonda moves!

bush is the pres for the next two years, we are in Iraq until we kill ALL the insurgents. we are not giving a time line, hell we didn't give Hitler or general lee one did we?

we are there until its over, end of story!!!"

This was posted in an off topic forum on a non-political site. It just boggled my mind what this dude is thinking. I'm not even sure if it would be worth a response. How do you attempt to even argue a point with people like this?

Ugh, makes me depressed thinking how many others probably feel the same as him. :(

1. "we are in Iraq until we kill ALL the insurgents" - chuckle
Yeah, the Brits had a similar attitude towards us during the Revolutionary War. Guess who won?

2. The "insurgency" are the people who were attacked by foreign invaders.
So, the argument this guy is making is that the Iraqi "insurgency" should "kill" the U.S. military. (No, he doesn't know it; he's stupid.)

3. First, you post a link so we know you're not spreading RW garbage
Edited on Sun Mar-26-06 01:48 AM by wtmusic
here :eyes:

Then, once you have a link, you calmly explain to the moron that the Iraqi insurgency is a myth...they are the citizens of Iraq fighting an illegal occupation. You would have to slaughter all the people in Iraq, and since that's not going to happen, let's bring our soldiers home now, before one you know dies, huh?

4. and thier use of stats is meaningless. Here:

.S. commander in charge of training cedes point on Iraq handover

By Lisa Burgess, Stars and Stripes
Mideast edition, Saturday, March 25, 2006

ARLINGTON, Va. — A national security expert “has a valid point” when he says that turning over large portions of battle space to Iraqi forces is meaningless if most of that land is desert, a top U.S. commander in Iraq said Friday.
Anthony Cordesman, a national security analyst with the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, believes the hand-over emphasis is “nonsense.”
With almost the entire western half of Iraq virtually empty desert, “the figures vastly overestimate the actual area of influence and are at least as meaningless as the worst reporting on pacification in Vietnam,” Cordesman wrote in a March 22 paper for CSIS.

6. I'd respond because it's what I do...
"We did not WIN the 2nd Gulf War...toppling a government is NOT winning. It's easy to destroy. It's harder to build. If you think we can crush the insurgency by being more destructive than we already have been, you're dreaming. You're talking about an enemy that cannot be seen until it strikes, that has no purpose other than to kill. They're not trying to take territory. We have only once faced a enemy so implacable, and that enemy beat us.

It will never be over as long as we're there."

8. The US killed the insurgency in Japan by killing its citizenry
Edited on Sun Mar-26-06 02:12 AM by rocknation
which they wouldn't have been able to do without a weapon of mass destruction.

The U.S. lost Viet Nam--and are losing Iraq--because a) they can't tell the insurgents from the civilians anymore, and b) using a weapon of mass destruction would only underscore the failure of the mission to liberate them.

We WON? I went out for awhile this evening. Was there a big announcement and I missed it? Darn

bush is the pres for the next two years
That would put him out of office more than 6 months before the next election, but hey, I'll take it!

we are in Iraq until we kill ALL the insurgents
Well at the rate we are killing Iraqis, that might not take too long.

13. there's also evidence that...
Edited on Sun Mar-26-06 02:13 AM by CanuckAmok
...the Japanese attacked the US because the US had blockaded Japan's petroleum route, in order to enable the Chinese to beat Japan on the war they were having (the Japanese did invade Manchuria). The US blockade was not authorised, of course, by the League of Nations.

Just sayin'.

And was there another Gulf War I didn't hear about? Because you sure aren't winning this one, "fast" or otherwise.

Here's what going to happen:

The US forces will be in Iraq beyond 2008. Once Bush is out of office and (probably) a Democrat is President, the corporate media will blame the new Prez for making a mess of the Iraq situation, and the sheeple like your friend there will eat it up. You just watch.

That person is just stringing together a list of everything he hates & admirably trying to tie it all together into this issue. If someone answers him, he'll just do more of the same.
