Weldon's interests must return home

Sometimes I wonder about Curt Weldon, the Republican congressman who represents Delaware County's Seventh District.

Sometimes Weldon is serious. Sometimes he's substantive. Sometimes he's a bit wacky.

An example of the wacko side: Weldon's presence at a Washington ceremony at which the Rev. Sun Myung Moon was crowned as "humanity's Savior, Messiah, Returning Lord and True Parent."

Those aren't my words. Those are the words of the Unification Church, which sponsored the 2004 event at the Dirksen Senate Office Building.

Weldon, at first, denied he was present. Later, when a videotape was produced showing him there, he said he had left before the Rev. Moon was, well, deified.

My name is Rev. Moon, but you can call me God.

1. I'm thinking his sole purpose in investigating Able Danger
Was to try and pin 9/11 failures on Clinton

3. We shouldn't dismiss ABLE DANGER because of Weldon.

Here's the e-mail I just sent to the Phil. Inquirer columnist.

Tom –

Your colleagues are mistaken about there being “no credible evidence” to support Weldon on Able Danger. Weldon’s intentions may have been partisan – to pin evidence that DoD ignored prior warning of 9/11 on Clinton – but, Able Danger is no fantasy. The program and its 2.5 Terabyte databank on US citizens were real. Several of the program officers have confirmed the basic outline of Weldon’s account.

The classified DIA files that formed the basis for the “Brooklyn Cell” matrix, presumably, went back on the shelves after the program was closed down. Those files did contain the details of an NSA intercepts that led the CIA to monitor a January 2000 al-Qaeda planning summit in Kuala Lumpur that was attended by a pair of the Flt. 77 hijackers and Moh. Atta’s roommate. That was the basis on which the “Brooklyn Cell” link diagram was assembled by AD’s analysts.

Furthermore, the CIA did order the FBI liaison at the Agency Counter-Terrorism Center to withhold a cable to John O’Neil’s FBI National security unit when al-Hazmi and al-Midhar enter the US on 1/15/00. The CIA did continue to monitor this UBL cell inside the US, along with at least two allied foreign intelligence services. Rather than step on the CIA’s toes, Steven Cambone had DIA shut down AD, even though the military “force and facilities protection” exception would have allowed the project to continue gathering warrantless surveillance of US Persons.

Several months later, Flt. 77 smashed into the south wing of the Pentagon.

I think you might want to take a look at this. I would like to hear your response.

Will let you know in the unlikely event that he responds.
