How do you respond to a moran like this?
Edited on Fri Mar-24-06 12:37 PM by Sydnie
This is from another board that I visit. The OP started out with a neanderthal that posted that the "so called christian hostiges" were released and how they were terrorist loving and anti-american.

This is one of the responses in that thread.

---------

And all you Christian anti-warwhoopers cite the death of our soldiers to bolster your "whooping".

And like a seemingly GOOD Christian lady on Fox's Cavuto said the other day, ............ that all the so-called-Christians are forgetting that God gave the life of HIS ONLY SON for a similar cause that our military personnel are willing to sacrifice their lives for.

So now iffen there really is a "Heaven" we know who will be up there with Jesus and who will still be "wishing in their other hand".

---------

This was my response.

--------

Our military personnel are dying for our sins? Wow, even blivet** hasn't said that REASON out loud yet. You do realize just how ridiculous that sounds, don't you?
---------

They responded.

------------

know how ridiculous YOUR REPLY reads.

It appears Democrats like you are truly trying to "hijack" Jesus for yourself and to hell with every other person on this earth.

Maybe you should have one of the resident preachers explain it to you.

Ignorance can SOMETIMES be fixed.
--------

to which I responded
---------

You post that ridiculous claim in big bold,, red letters and you say "democrats are trying to hijack jesus"?

Jesus was a long haired liberal, my friend, who believed in turning the other cheek and taught peaceful practices. He didn't try to convert anyone at the end of a gun. He used his WORDS. If jesus were here now, you and your "ilk" would charge him with being pro-terrorist and being un-american too. I beleive he too would be weeping bitter tears over what is being done "in his name"

------------

I know this won't be the end of this. How would you respond to this garbage? Help me shut him down!

They export it to Hell so dumb-ass fundies can burn for eternity.

9. my response would be: Jesus and all that he stands for cannot be hijacked
by a political party. Jesus is not partisan but you would have me believe that he is on your "side". It's apparent that you are no Christian and have not accepted HIS teachings into your cold murderous heart.

10. Trying to reason with those who HATE in the name of Jesus Christ...
is like trying to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and it annoys the pig.

Didn't your Jesus say to "Go forth and teach all nations"? TEACH. He never advocated violence in any form -- y'know? "Blessed are the meek" and "turn the other cheek"? You might ask him to clarify how shooting and bombing people who pray to a different god jives with the teachings of his Jesus. "Vengence is mine sayeth the lord". MINE. He didn't say "Vengence is mine, or if I'm not available, my self-appointed representative's."

Then again, only a fool will argue with a fool.

12. Try this: "What You Need To Believe To Be A Republican:"
It appeared here at DU last week. I used it as an email gift to known freepers.

What You Need To Believe To Be A Republican:

Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.

Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy
made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him, and a bad
guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.

Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is Communist, but trade with
China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest
national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq.

A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but
multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind
without regulation.

The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in
speeches, while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.

A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our long-time allies, then
demand their cooperation and money.

Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy, but providing health
care to all Americans is socialism. HMOs and insurance companies have the
best interests of the public at heart.

Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but
creationism should be taught in schools.

A president lying about an extramarital affair is a impeachable offense,
but a president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is
solid defense policy.

Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution,
which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.

The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but
George Bush's driving record is none of our business.

Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a
conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for
your recovery.

Supporting "Executive Privilege" for every Republican ever born, who will
be born or who might be born (in perpetuity.)

What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but
what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant.

Support for hunters who shoot their friends and blame them for wearing
orange vests similar to those worn by the quail.

Feel free to pass this on. If you don't send it to at least 10 other
people, we're likely to be stuck with more Republicans in '06 and '08.

Friends don't let friends vote Republican.

16. "You're right."
"Someone has hijacked Christianity, but it sure as hell isn't US. People like you have been around since not long after Christ's death, spewing your poison and putting people to the sword just because it fulfills some sick inner fantasy that makes you feel important.

"You actually reveal your lack of faith by this sort of rhetoric...the truly faithful don't have a need to attack the non-believers, for their non-belief doesn't pose any kind of threat to their philosophy.

"Our soldiers are dying because they were put in harm's way for an unclear purpose, not because they're preserving our freedoms. Our freedoms were never in danger from terrorism itself, but from those who use "terrorism" as a rallying cry to get the fearful to line up behind them.

"Evil cannot recognize itself--it can only see its reflection in the eyes of those who watch its activities with horror."

17. quote Emmett Fox in Sermon on the Mount
"Our true selves are at one with God, undivided from Him, expressing His ideas, witnessing to His nature--the dynamic Thinking of that Mind. Because we are all one with the great Whole of which we are spiritually a part, it follows that we are one with all men. Just because in Him we live and move and have our being, we are, in the absolute sense, all essentially one.

Evil, sin, the fall of man, in fact, is essentially the attempt to negative this Truth in our thoughts. We try to live apart from God. We try to do without Him. We act as though we had life of our own; as separate minds; as though we could have plans and purposes and interests separate from His. All this, if it were true, would mean that existence is not one and harmonious, but a chaos of competition and strife. It would mean that we are quite separate from our fellow man and could injure him, rob him, or hurt him, or even destroy him, without any damage to ourselves, and, in fact, that the more we took from other people the more we should have for ourselves. It would mean that the more we considered our own interests, and the more indifferent we were to the welfare of others, the better off we should be. Of course it would then follow naturally that it would pay others to treat us in the same way, and that accordingly we might expect many of them to do so. Now if this were true, it would mean that the whole universe is only a jungle, and that sooner or later it must destroy itself by its own inherent weakness and anarchy. But, of course, it is not true and therein lies the joy of life........

Notice that Jesus does not say, "forgive me my trespasses and I will try to forgive others," or "I will see if it can be done," or "I will forgive generally, with certain exceptions." He obliges us to declare that we have actually forgiven, and forgiven all, and he makes our claim to our own forgiveness to depend upon that. Who is there who has grace enough to say his prayers at all, who does not long for the forgiveness or cancellation of his own mistakes and faults. Who would be so insane as to endeavor to seek the Kingdom of God without desiring to be relieved of his own sense of guilt. No one, we may believe. And so we see that we are trapped in the inescapable position that we cannot demand our own release before we have released our brother.

18. How do you get sent by the government to 'die for our sins'?
OK, I am not suggesting that you argue with this genetic flub. You can't-when someone posts schizophrenic rantings in place of facts, there's nothing that can be done with them anyway. but, I would suggest this as a possibility:

Point out the fact that Christ died for our sins. It was his CHOICE to do so, and it could only be his choice to make it work. If he were forced, and didn't want to go through with it, then he couldn't have taken on our sins. Compare that to our soldiers, noble as they may be-they aren't there by choice.

Now, after you make that point, I suggest you laugh at him and deride him as rudely as possible. Try your best to embarrass him, because doing anything else will only justify his opinions. The more we do this, the more we point out that people like him are only walking the streets because all the halfway houses for the mentally unstable were closed by Reagan, then the more the conservatively insane will just get flustered and go away.
