Did anyone see "Mind of Mencia" last night?
At the end, he took a harsh swing at Bush. It showed Bush in a confession box confessing to who he thought was a priest, but who was actually Satan (played by Carlos Mencia). He says stuff like "I'm doing the Lord's work by bombing the shit out of the ME and I'm in the Republican Party, which is God's Own Party." Satan/Mencia responds by telling him, "Y'know, God's a peaceful dude. I know him. I'm actually Satan the Dark Lord!" And Bush responds, "Dick Cheney?"
"No, darker than that!"
"Condi?"

Priceless!!!

1. Hmm.. I wonder who he ripped that bit off of...
Ahem. Not a big fan of Ned Holness. Even if he is anti-Bush, he's a hack.

That was out of this world.

8. Yea...I enjoyed the bit about the uproar over the comic ...
and the bombings that the muslims participated in....

He said send blacks and hispanics over there.....they know how to riot...

They would say don't bomb it first...
First break the windows so you can steal the plasma TV
And then burn it down.....

crude but funny!!

9. Yeah, but he does some flag-waving on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
in his hour special that aired last week. It was not cool.

He just likes to offend people for the sake of offending them, so when he touched on something that clearly offended me, I was like, "Well, you got me!"

But the people in the audience who stood and clapped when he started off on having used nukes and that's how we played the game in a muslim/American debate about right and wrong can eat shit and die as far as I'm concerned.

11. Funny, I didn't see that as flag waving.
What I saw him saying was "You people over there want nukes? You think you're going to threaten us with nukes? Don't forget, we're the only mutherfukkers crazy enough to have actually used them. Twice! And you KNOW that we'll use them again."

Reminding us that what we know, they know. You think North Korea doesn't know that if they hit one of our cities with one of their dozen or so bombs that we would hit back with a thousand?

You know it. I know it. And they know it. So all the nuclear sabre rattling is just that - noise to whip up the natives.

I think the applause was not for the use of nukes, but for saying out loud that all this talk is meant for only one thing - to keep the sheeple in line.

12. The way he was saying it was unambiguous.
It was the nuclear equivalent of Toby Keith saying we'll put a boot in yer ass. I wouldn't read any further into it than that.

13. And I think maybe you need to get your irony meter tweaked.
Because I saw the same show and got a completely different message.

This is the same as those who say he is racist, because he uses the racism prevalent in our culture as a foil. You can't defeat a stereotype without confronting it.

Isn't it true that we are the only country to ever nuke an enemy? Isn't it true that if someone attacked us with nuke we'd turn their country in to a slag heap within hours? Do you think there is anyone in the world who doesn't believe it? By saying it, he makes it obvious that no one would dare attempt it. And that undercuts Bushco using it as a fear device.

Comparing Mencia to Toby Keith is probably the wildest stretch of reasoning I've heard this week (of course, I didn't listen to *'s speech).

14. I agree with you on the racism thing.
He seemed to be bragging about the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings, though.

And your taking that as a subversive swipe at Bush is at least as much a reach as my Toby Keith reference. But I see your point.

I found the rest of the act to be on-point, though.

15. You're right -- it is always possible that I was hearing it the way
I wanted to hear it. Everybody perceives and interprets through their own filters.

And yeah, he's a great lead-in to the Daily Show.
