During yesterday's press conference, President Bush was asked when the troops could come home from Iraq and he answered, "that will be decided by future presidents and future governments of Iraq."
It is clear that he has no intention of finding an end to this conflict and it will take a new administration in 2009 to bring the troops home. That should be interesting to the voters in Iowa.
The Des Moines Register, the largest newspaper in Iowa, has publicly called for the President to end the war in Iraq. This adds to the pressure facing Republicans in Congress, quite a few of whom are seeking the presidential nomination and
will have to face the voters in the Iowa caucuses first.Link:

March 19, 2006
The time has come for President Bush to do what he has resolutely insisted he would never do: Set a timetable to end the U.S. occupation of Iraq.
The old notion of an open-ended commitment to "stay the course" no longer makes sense.
The nature of the conflict has changed.
So must American strategy.

Hint. Hint.
But, then, we really don't want any of them to take the hint, do we. We just need to keep encouraging Senator Feingold to
stay the course, i.e., keep speaking truth to power.
