Just heard that on NPR. It's hard to keep track of who owns what these days.

4. Presumably the formula and flavors will remain the same --
though I'll be checking the label closely from now on.

What will surely be lost is the community spirit, altruism, and eco-friendliness.

It is a pity.

:-(

2. I hated to hear that.
It's difficult to buy from smaller companies when they keep getting bought up.

I love Tom's.

Bastids.

on edit at least there's this:

Colgate will get 84 percent of the privately held company, with founder Tom Chappell and his family retaining the rest. Chappell will stay on to run the Kennebunk, Maine, company, which employs about 200 people. The firm also makes mouthwash, floss, deodorant, soap and shaving cream.

5. I just got yelled at by my dentist
for using Toms. Apparently the tartar hardens up more with natural pastes.
Good lord... she had to chisel and hack to get it off !!

She sympathized with me about not liking the mainstream pastes
cause they are too darn sweet. Suggested Arm and Hammer... ick !

She was quite funny about it too... said that there's a reason cavemen
didn't have teeth and believe it or not science has made a few worthwhile
advances over the years.

I'm bummed.

11. I would still stick with TOM's!
Your dentist just have to work little harder to get the tarter off your teeth!

12. Roger that!
They make a product call Relax-R-Bath that you dump in the tub while it's filling... Ai yi yi. You'll never want to get out of the tub.

9. I'll plug for Nature's Gate here..
Better than Tom's in my opinion. But harder to locate.

Their shampoo is great as well. My father swears up and down that his hair is starting to regrow in places that it had stopped growing.

10. Must be a lot of money rolling around...
or else these proud small business wouldn't bend over.

That's why I don't eat ben and jerry's and haven't since 2000...
