US asks Arab countries to pressure Hamas to deal with Israel

WASHINGTON - The Bush administration asked Arab leaders on Tuesday to encourage Hamas, which the United States, the European Union and Israel consider a terror organization, to deal with the Jewish state.

On Monday, after a meeting with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, the crown prince of Bahrain said a Hamas-led Palestinian government had no alternative.

“They will be obliged to do that” if they want to solve the dispute between Israel and the Palestinians, Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa said.

“Hurry up,” he advised Hamas, which the United States and the European Union have pledged to boycott unless it abandons terror and accepts Israel and the agreements that Israel has reached with the Palestinian Authority.

Whats with this childish stuff of Bush asking someone else to talk to Hammas for him? Can't he just pick up the telephone and tell them himself? We need the adults back in charge real bad. Everyone is laughing at us.

1. Sultan Bin Hamid gets off the phone.
"Who was it?" asks the royal advisor.

"Oh, it was just the United States again", laughs the Sultan.

"what did they want?"

"Well, they want us to put pressure on Hamas. Last week it was to put pressure on Iraq, and before that it was to be friends with Hamid Karzai. Yesterday they called, by the way. They wanted us to put pressure on Iran and the Mullahs".

"What are you going to do?"

"Turn on my phone recorder"

3. So, they need talks to agree not to talk to each other?

If you see a deck of marked cards on the table, don't sit down and get into the game. The best thing might be for everyone to simply put everything on hold until regime change can be completed in Washington.

Then, there'll be something new to talk about.
