KUWAIT - Kuwait’s highest court has upheld a ruling refusing to recognise as female a man who underwent sex-change surgery almost six years ago, judicial sources said on Tuesday.

They told Reuters the court late on Monday upheld a lower court’s ruling against Kuwaiti national Ahmed Dousari, in his 30s, barring any official recognition of his new gender. snip

But the ruling was overturned on appeal the same year after Islamist lawyers and political activists opposed the judgment, saying it would open the door for more such operations, which they consider immoral.

3. No offense to transgender people when I say this
But why would he to she want to be recognized as a woman under the law of a country like Kuwait which is so oppressive to women? If Ahmed is dressed like a woman, behaves like a woman, and is recognized by such by her social circle/family while enjoying the legal rights of a man, I would say that she has the the benefits of being female but not the disadvantages like women who are born female.

4. Well, that would tell you how strongly they feel about who they really are
And who the hell would want to be a woman in America, either? I suppose a feeling of bodily integrity and soundness of mind trumps all.
