I am so effing sick of people who think * and America are one and the same
You know, the "love Bush or leave it, you're with the Republicans or with the terrorists" shit that has been one of the roughly 5 different RW talking points over the past 3-4 years. The first time I heard it was when Tom Tancredo said of anti-war protests "they are not anti-war or anti-Bush, they are anti-American." These people really think Bush shat America out of his ass and that anything we say against him is against America. Michael Moore, the Dixie Chicks, and now the teacher at Overland made statements against the Lyin' King and people immediately accused them of making "anti-American" statements. First of all, IMHO, America is (or at least should be) a nation so free that people should even be allowed to hate it and still live here, if they so choose. Second, it sure wasn't "anti-American" to politically massacre Clinton for everything from getting a blowjob to not brushing his teeth twice a day. If criticizing the prez were indeed unpatriotic, that rule should apply to ALL presidents, not just ones with R's behind their name.

1. Until America removes Bush
they are one and the same.

All the more reason that we gotta do something about it.

3. Bush has claimed the Divine Right of Kings: America is now Bush Country
Therefore, the well-being of the monarch is the health of its national embodiment, the annointed Bush. To oppose him is to oppose Bush Country, ergo America.

This is the line of thinking, acknowledged or not.

4. Working overseas
as I do much of the itme, I can give the lie to Republican whining that Europe has become "anti-American."
That is just so much crap. They are very much pro-American and anti-Bush, and are very much capable of
telling the difference. I hope we manage to maintain our ability to see the distinction as well.

6. Post number 3 is saying that Bush is promoting the idea that King Bush =
America, and that is the Republican Party Line now.

Poster number 3 is not promoting that idea themselves.

5. America voted for Bush
From the Americans who say, "Oh I don't vote because it's a waste of time", to the Americans who say, "I vote for Nader because I feel like it", and even to the American Christians who vote only for candidates approved by their preachers, you bet America voted for Bush. Don't you doubt it for one minute. It wasn't the Europeans who voted for Bush.
