There was a woman doctor from Iraq at the "Bring 'Em Home Now" concert here in Manhattan last night. She was a guest of Susan Sarandon's and spoke of the conditions in her country. I wasn't able to be there, but my friend is a makeup artist for M.A.C. and was doing makeup for the benefit. He called me before her speech so I could listen. She was amazing. Another woman who made my week! :-)

BTW yesterday we buried my Grandmother, who died Mar. 15th from congestive heart failure. Her passing was not a surprise, she'd been bedridden for several years.

The reason I mention it is because she was the first Democrat I ever remember meeting.

She positively loathed Reagan, she had no use for Bush Sr, and absolutely hated GWB. She was strong-willed, well read, happy being a mother, grandmother and an American citizen and taxpayer, volunteering at the hospital and at the schools after she retired from nursing in her early 60's. I will never forget the rousing political arguments she and my rabid right wing parents and uncles would get into. It was my first taste of an alternate viewpoint. RIP my gramma, I hope you and grampa are dancing the Lindy Hop once more.
