CNN's Gossippy Bill Schneider does Excellent report on Al Gore...running
Edited on Tue Mar-21-06 04:28 PM by KoKo01
Schneider thinks he might be running because he said "I don't have plans to run"...showed clip of Florida Speech and Gore's famous January speech where he accused Bush of lying.

He said that "Gore has the sentiments of people that he was already elected President." (need the transcript for the exact wording..but that's what I heard) :bounce:

The whole segment was interesting on Gore.

They then recognized the Left by doing an excellent comeback by Feingold to Bush's Presser today and even showed a little of Kos Presidential poll and a link to a new podcast Wes Clark has started.

He's going to interview Helen Thomas later.

1. I liked his closing line...
Something along the lines of "Many say Al Gore has as much claim to the Clinton legacy as Hillary."

No shit. More...after all (and I do not mean this in any sort sexist way, just stating the fact...) Hillary was only Bill's wife. Al was the VP and actually won the most votes.

2. i think the "only" part makes that statement sexist
given that she did much more than the usual "first lady" and also is now a senator in her own right.

although i don't disagree that gore is more the true heir of the clinton legacy.

6. It would be the same if it were "only" Bill's credenza, Bill's dog, etc.
Don't focus on that part. I knew SOMEONE would get their knickers in a twist over it, and to do so is to miss the point. Al Gore was the Vice President, and won the 2000 election. Hillary was "only" Bill's wife. There is no deeper inference. It is just fact. Try making the statement without the word "only." Only exists as a word for a reason. It means something. In this context, Hillary was "only" Bill's wife.

3. I don't know
Hillary probably had more to do with the '94 R takeover than Bill, and certianly more than Gore.

See inept attempt at health reform (not to say it was a bad plan, but it was handled terribly).

10. Do you think the right-wing would be even more scared if they knew...
Edited on Tue Mar-21-06 05:15 PM by IanDB1
that the reason why so many people on the left hate Hillary is because we think she's not liberal ENOUGH?

I mean, in a perfect world, if we here at DU could choose ANYONE to be President without having to worry whether they would win or not... who would we REALLY pick?

Barbara Boxer?
Rep. Barney Frank?
Jane Fonda?
Woody Harrelson?
Kanye West?
James Randi?
Sen. Ted Kennedy?
Sen. Mark Dayton?
Al Franken?
Keith Olberman?
Sen. Paul Sarbanes?
Ronald Reagan Junior?
Rev. Barry Lynn?

Can we think of an African-American pro-choice Atheist lesbian to put in the White House?

Granted, some of those people may not have foreign policy experience, but then again, neither did Der Chimpenfuherer.

Amazing statement by CNN's Senior Political Analyst, Bill Schneider, who is a fellow at the conservative American Enterprise Institute!

12. I think they're realizing the people spoke
and they (we) spoke correctly. We wouldn't be in this fucking mess if the will of the American people had been allowed to stand. Instead, the AEI people looked the other way when their boy stole the election from us, thinking they'd all get a little sumpin' sumpin' out of it. Now they realize we're ALL fucked -- and maybe the American people aren't so stupid after all.

5. This statement was suprising coming from a Cable outlet:
"Gore has the sentiments of people that he was already elected President."

Al Gore is my President. He was rightfully elected in 2000. He is the President of the United States.

8. The reality of the polls
is taking over on MSM. They know the majority are watching them very critically.
They also know Gore spoke nothing but the truth when he spoke about the constitutional crisis.

9. And this Country , the World for that matter, would be a whole LOT
better off if the Supreme Court hadn't stepped in, thus sealing our fate.

13. CNN knows the elections were stolen...
It appears they're getting the message that we're sick of them pushing HRC on us - as if "we" were "weighing" in.

Gore has been making the rounds "out of the line of media fire" but still making a little press despite of it because of bloggers getting the word out.

It almost appears that the CM has starting to tune in for a change..

hmm.... wtf?

Edited on Tue Mar-21-06 08:44 PM by Gloria
if Gore shows up Iowa in 2007. People have the sense that he already won; he was never for the Iraq war; he's way out in front on the global climate change issue; and he's got contacts for money.

18. MSNBC report...You have to wonder-suddenly, we have two pundits commenting
Edited on Wed Mar-22-06 01:48 AM by Gloria
on Gore. The same Gore they've ignored for years, except for the occasional derisive reference. I guess they're interested in a "horse race"---but I was totally shocked that Fineman actually brought up substanative, positive points--esp. about Gore being 20 years ahead on global warming and being against Iraq.

It's the "vision thing." Gore and Clark certainly share the "vision thing." I'm so glad they mentioned Clark's podcasts!!!!! (New one up now, too!)

Gore was at Murfeesburg College....where he made his comments. Remember, Gore's film "An Inconvenient Truth" comes out on May 26, if I recall!
