Since there is no legitimate reason to deny a woman's right to choice OTHER THAN religion, it's clearly unconstitutional. The fact that we have a Supreme Court packed with men - and packed with men of more religious than intellectual leaning (Alito & Thomas come to mind) is untenable. You have a very unstable situation. I would encourage the justices to tread cautiously, if they have the capacity to do so. The entire ultra-right wing of the party is acting like kindergardeners in a candy store - and they may all end up spanked.

Where is the outrage from Moderate Republicans?. What good are groups like Its My Party Too, The Republican Main Street Partnership, Republicans For Choice, Republican Majority For Choice, The Wish List and the Log Cabin Republicans when things like this happen? The Wish List for all i know so far has said nothing regarding the Unconstitutional ban. Republicans for Choice has not updated their site in months, Republican Main Street Partnership and Its My party Too have also said absoulutly nothing. The Republican Majority For Choice is the only group to say anything about it. The degenarate fanatics of the far right want to impose Theocracy on america and where are the moderate republicans senators Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, Kay Bailey Hutchison, Lisa Murcowski and Arlen Specter have said nothing. John McCain a man i thought we all could trust has said he would sign the South Dakota Ban if he could. I am a Goldwater Libertarian and am disgusted with what the republican party has became. Very soon the republican party will belong to no one except religious fanatics who know nothing about politics and push through nothing but bible thumping nonsense. A total ban on all abortions is what they want, the mandated teaching of creationism in all public schools is what they want, to declare homosexuals as non-persons and persecute them is what they want. The republican party has given into these lunatics with no regrets. The Un-American Facist Religious Right must be stopped!

1. This sounds

more encouraging. At least we now know there is one Republican that can think for himself/herself. Where indeed are the moderate Republicans. They seem to be all pimping for the radical right.

2. I am old enough to remember the Republican Party of Old
The Party of FISCAL Conservatives and get government out of people's lives, for better or worse. The people in my age group, Republican husband included, are fed up with the trend of their Party in relation to fiscal matters AND intrusions into Americans private affairs, i.e., their BEDROOMS.

My Republican husband (separated but not divorced), who moved to Florida for work, is absolutely FURIOUS at Bush, and the Fundies, even more so now that he lives in a RED state and can see first hand what their agenda is. The best I can describe him is one of an old time Rockefeller Republican. The though of spending trillions of dollars of government money for wars AND tax cuts for Paris Hilton at the same time, send him off the loop. I will not even get into how he feels about the Fundies.

These people have to face it. They may be catering to their "base", but they are losing the VAST middle, never mind Democrats and Independents, of Republicans or RINOS as they call them now.

I really believe there is going to be a backlash. And the "moderate" Republicans are going to desert ship. I know my husband is one of them. To quote him, "Bush and the Pat Robertson's of his agenda will force me to vote for a Democrat for the first time in 30 years".

4. So declare official war on the sanctimonious bastards, already
and get them the hell out of your party's leadership.

We've got enough on our own hands, trying to rid the DNC of its conservatives whose backwards thinking has lost the party all 3 branches of government.

I really don't care what those "moderate" pubbies think. They've gone along with batshit crazy religious crap for far too long for me to have one ounce of respect for any of them.
