I live in rural Alabama, have a retriever, live within 100 yards of a cotton field.

I qualify for the Nom du jour.

I'll drink beer on the porch and get in power tool competitions with my neighbors. I still have a Kerry Edwards sign on my fence.

I'm the Republican's worst nightmare. The Redneck Socialist.

I'm so far left that even many of the denizens of DU roll their eyes at many of my posts. I want a health system similar to those evil commies in Canada or Britain. I want an open and transparent system of government that will have accountability to the people they serve rather than the people who paid their campaign bills.

I'm also very likely to be uncouth. If someone says something stupid, I just might let them know it's stupid and back it up with a verbal brick upside their head. Not only that, it will most likely be in such a fashion that the recipient will chuckle at the metaphor as his clock is reset.

When America votes for a dumb shit like Bush, I just might post a rant titled "America, The land of Stupidmotherfuckers" (in my journal still as well as several freep sites who felt it was not nice).

That has been my observation. Where I live there are lots of rednecks that are liberal. Many of them operate small farms, work on cars, run store fronts, and the like. The local good ol boy types call them hippies. Maybe they are, but apart from values, these two groups really arn't much different from one another.
