Question about casualty figures
Do any American personnel die in hospitals in Europe or in the USA from wounds they suffer in Iraq? It just occurred to me that while I often read of some of our people being killed in a snipe or IED attack, I never read that someone was transported to a hospital in Germany where he later died of his injuries, So what gives? Is this a way to minimize the death count, or is the treatment in these hospitals so outstanding that they never lose a patient, no matter how severely injured they may be?

1. when they med-evac people out to germany, they usually send a medical team
or at least one doctor with them on the planes. i know because a dear friend's ex-son-in-law was called back into service--he, being an anesthesiologist goes on many of those flights with the wounded.

2. Yes they do, and their deaths are counted as war fatalities.
Please see this site. http://icasualties.org/oif/

They have a whole page of soldiers who died after they left the theater of operations, under Fatality Details. http://icasualties.org/oif/Dow.aspx

Most of the listed fatalities have links to the Centcom or DoD reports. It is a very common misconception that these deaths are not being included in the total, but they are.
