Want to make history? Get famous? Start boycottsturgis.com, kick SD's ASS
I LIVED in Sturgis, SD for two years, I got a tattoo there, knew a lot of bikers, attended many of the events when a town of roughly 7000 hosts between 300,000 and 500,000 bikers who do nothing but throw money around..

You cannot even BUY one of those deserted buildings on the main street the rest of the year as any of those buildings are conduits for MILLIONS of dollars once a year.

Anyone here want to get famous and make HISTORY? I'll tell you how..

Start a site called www.boycottsturgis.com and post everything you can about the SD law on Abortion, mention that BIKERS have girlfriends and WIVES who HATE this kind of Govt Intrusion, and that you want to collect 500,000 signatures stating that these bikers and their friends, girlfriends, wives, pals of wives, etc WILL NOT ATTEND THE STURGIS RALLY THIS YEAR. PERIOD.

Say that you will deliver the petition personally to the city fathers of Sturgis SD once you've collected and printed them all out.

I'll bet you a million bucks that a special session of their State Legislature will be held and Abortion will be BACK ON THE TABLE before this summer..

I know these people, I know bikers, and if they hate ANYTHING, it's some govt telling THEM what to DO..

You'll be on CNN in no time, and you will literally change history, I'm dead serious.

I don't have time, PLEASE will someone do this?

2. How about combining this with the Million Hanger March?
A project to deliver at least one million coat hangers, one at a time, to the governor's office?!

5. They got a site?
Maybe they can add a petition to it, it would scare the SH*T out of South Dakota, it's where ALL their money comes from..

11. I like any idea that has to do with
screwing SD to the WALL for this move - there were some nice people there when I lived there, live and let live types, but ever since they compared Daschele (can never spell his name) to Osama or Saddam I figured that place was a lost cause..

But I KNOW that the bikers will NOT like what they've done..

Maybe the bikers could boycott, but any that DO show up could bring a hanger and dump it in the middle of the Rally to make a point :)

Let me know what you do on this, love to hear about it

3. Been to Sturgis as a biker, and as a general tourist -
liked the bike scene better, and I'll miss the gorgeous, eerie Black Hills but -

I won't go back there until the people of South Dakota rise up against the fundy bullshit.

Damn right, we hate the government telling us what to do with our own bodies.

I can't start a site with the time involved, but I'd sure sign the petition.

DU bikers, let's kick some Sturgis ass (which is a lot of fun, depending on which Sturgis rally you were at......... I remember one that used both whipped cream AND beer.)

4. I also did ten years in Fairbanks
and to me that time period was a MUCH better party scene than Sturgis :)

I don't think this would take a lot of time, just create a petition at one of those petition sites freely available on the web from the URL, but post some articles on the boycottsturgis.com to let folks know what's up..

I would think most bikers and their gals would be pretty outraged by this, surpised the Hell's Angels don't get after the Repigs there, this could really cost THEM money too..

Yeah, it's a bit of a party scene, if you like women walking around naked except for a SNAKE :)

here's an interesting piece of info, for a city of 500,000 for say a week or so, there were only I think 2 stabbings and one murder.. try THAT in a city of a half a million, and with WHIPPED CREAM AND BEER on the side..

The way to recognize that you are in Sturgis is to look for japanese bikes on ropes hanging from trees in the campgrounds, like festive Christmas Ornaments :)

6. I've been talking up a boycott to various groups -
one that might be promising is ABATE. I'll do some research, but can't promise much. I'm sole care provider for my 86 year old father-in-law, who is in 3rd stage Alzheimers - which can be time consuming. Plus taking caregiver classes when I can. Keep your symbols crossed, friend, maybe I'll luck onto someone who can handle it right!

How big was the snake?

7. Sorry to hear about the Alzheimers
I lost my dad to that, your memory is literally YOU, and it really is a heart breaker to hear someone you looked up to and respected start rambling and looping, then when they reach the latter stages (or maybe it's stage two) they can get violent, due I think to the fact that they are still "in there" and frustrated as HELL.

My father finally just refused to take food and liquids, and it still took him two weeks to pass on. Hard to kill our people, I myself have woken up in my younger days with no shirt on in the snow on the lawn of a Mortuary, blue but hungover as hell.. must be like dear old dad.

I know how tough it can be, best to you there, and bless you for it.

Anyone you can find (I'll look too) is pretty much going to get on TV for this one, I got on O'Reilly's and Scarborough when we boycotted Limbaugh (and cost him TONS of advertisers), TV Land eats this kind of stuff up..

Plus the SD govt will be sh*tting BRICKS when it happens :)

The snake? Big enough to cover what I wanted to see and nothing else :)

My little sons LOVED the rally (got them both earplugs - the SOUND of tens of thousands of choppers is amazing), the bikers LOVE kids - never forget my littlest one age 3 walking down the street and putting his tiny hand on the legs of sitting bikers and looking up into their eyes, these gentle giants would light up like a Christmas tree, bit old grin cutting their huge beards in half.. some good people..

Also some right wingers too I'm afraid, we used to call them "Rolex Rangers", the guys that show up in NEW Chaps, Jackets, etc and not a BUG on them, sporting a rolex of course.

They didn't smart off too much to the real bikers, I told my son once when we saw some Hell's Angels coming down the street to go hang out with the "Biker's for Jesus" instead.. He said, "How do you know they are Hell's Angel's dad?"

I told him, "See that guy twirling that little ball peen hammer in his fingers? They use those on people who get smart with them.. hold them down and knock out their teeth with them.."

Tough crowd sometimes.

8. Just for kicks, check out this story from central Florida:
http://www.shrinershq.org/eventphotos/toyrun12-00.html

My husband and I were lucky enough to be able to go on the run back in 1995. My mom, who just turned 90, lives about 1/2 mile from the mall where the Toy Run starts, and she goes to the start area every year. There may be more info and photos in the archives at the FLorida Today newspaper.

THe stuffed animals filled 15 tractor-trailers, and that was awesome. One guy had to have 100 little bunnies ALL OVER his hog, another had a bear that was as big as he was, with helmet, no less. We took Alaska toys: a moose, a musk ox, a killer whale, a polar bear and a puffin. Almost no room on the bike for us!

 on the bike tales and your little ones!

My "job" with Dad ain't bad - he's been in Alaska since 1948 and has some tales to tell when he can. I've known him since 1970, and he's always been wonderful to me. Now it's my turn.

You do some terrific design work - how 'bout a flaming female biker, full leathers, with a coathanger & NO somewhere in the design? Now, creativity is NOT my strong suit..........

I've got to hit the sack, but will mark this thread to try and get some more interest going on the forum - we also have a new member, harleydad, who is the SO of AirmensMom CHeck out this thread:
