Rep Conyers: New York Times ... Shills Again
Edited on Fri Mar-17-06 08:33 PM by understandinglife
The New York Times has had some remarkable coverage about Senator Feingold's censure resolution. Remarkable in its naivete and lack of balance.

<clip>

This flippant account of what must count for research is preposterous. There were actually 32 Members of Congress on my resolution. Maybe that's about two dozen. Or maybe that's more than 15% of the Democrats in Congress and a number that's growing every week. Maybe the author could have signed up for my email, or even called me or my staff if he wanted to know the facts. Or he could have gone to Congress.gov to find out who has signed up as a cosponsor.

Maybe it is "Time for Facts." Just don't go to the New York Times looking for them.

Much, much more at the link:

1. We are so fortunate that Mr. Conyers expresses himself
with such skill.

2. He and Feingold match eloquence with deeds. Just what America needs.

3. The 3 Phases of Truth...Impeachment is passing through violent opposition
...marching on toward acceptance as self-evident !

The Case for Impeachment
Why we can no longer afford George W. Bush
Posted on Monday, February 27, 2006. An excerpt from an essay in the March 2006 Harper's Magazine. By Lewis H. Lapham.
http://www.harpers.org/TheCaseForImpeachment.html

The NYTimes was always an Operation Mockingbird mouthpiece for catapulting propaganda for what is so obvious by now a failed presidency. De facto if not now de jure (despite they won't publish it).

When common knowledge surpasses entrenched powers, as is the case now, then the 'theory' of Bush being a failure will be accepted:

"All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident."--Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860)

4. Today's New York Times Editorial
I wrote in this space yesterday about how the New York Times had sloppily reported about House Resolution 635. Today there was an New York Times editorial that continued in this vein. I write about it again, emphasizing some of the same ideas featured here yesterday, at Huffington Post. Critically, the issue with today's editorial was the Times' contention that the Democrats need to be doing something to investigate, and not censuring. Well, readers here know very well how active I and other Democrats have been to this end and I felt the need to set the record straight.

Another piece that I thought you all would find interesting comes from the Miami Herald and features a very brave man who has fought for fair elections. This was mentioned in an earlier thread, but I wanted to feature it on the front page in case anyone missed it.

5. So glad Conyers took NYT to task on this
I read their gullible remarks at about 3:30 in the morning yesterday and immediately wrote to them asking if they were out of their ever-loving minds.

Good for Rep. Conyers. This is one man who does not let grass grow under his feet.
