What were the best moments for progressives in US and world history?

Some of the best moments that I can think of have occurred when progressives were not in official power--May 1968 for example, in Paris, and that and the following couple of years in the US, when New Left radicalism reached its peak of power and popularity.

But the most exciting time to be a progressive in the US might have been in the months around the 1800 election, when corrupt Hamiltonian Federalism was pooping out and the "French party" of Jeffersonian democrats were in the upsurge, culminating in their squeaker of a win of the White House.

1. Prescott

I'd have to say finding Prescott Bush guilty of dealing with the enemy in 1942. It seems, in retrospect, that the gov't didn't pursue it enough.

2. Emancipation Proclamation; Women's suffrage

Civil Rights legislation of the 60s. Nixon's resignation. On the world stage, abolition of slavery and extension of the franchise wherever these things occurred.
