Don't Forget To Wear Your BLACK Shamrock Today!!
Edited on Fri Mar-17-06 07:03 AM by leftchick
http://www.blackshamrock.org/

Welcome to the Black Shamrock dot org, the website of the Black Shamrock Campaign, where people are invited to post photographs of the Black Shamrock at various locations in Ireland and throughout the world.

Stick a Black Shamrock on yerself...The Black Shamrock symbolises our mourning for all those who died as a result of Irish collaboration in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, for which the airports at Shannon, Aldergrove and Baldonnel have become pit-stops. It also symbolises our mourning for the loss of Irish Neutrality.

Equally the economies both north and south are daily becoming more integrally linked to the fortunes of the US led ‘military industrial complex’. What price is being paid for ‘peace’ in the north and ‘prosperity’ in the south with the arrival of Raytheon (the world’s largest Missile manufacturer) in Derry, and companies like Timoney, Data Devices Corporation, Zillings and Moog Ltd (all of whom make components for the international arms industry) in the south?

On edit: You all really need to check out the photo Gallery too!

:)

5. Trivial pursuit:
How many DUers know the appropriate response to "Top of the morning to you"?

This thread has me thinking about the fuss the administration raised in the first term, when the Irish reporter asked Bush a couple tough questions, and Rove called her supervisors to try to get her fired. The war in Iraq is very unpopular in the Old Sod, and it's a crime the US played the bully when asked not to use the airport in Shannon.

Throw down your arms and come
Throw down your arms and come
Throw down your arms and come
Drop them !

Two of us have a little fuss
Ev'rything you draw your last
Ev'rything you run for your gun
Ev'rything you fling rock stone
Hear this!

Throw down your arms and come
Throw down your arms and come
Throw down your arms and come
Drop them!

A no ignorance he do it
A no brute force do it.
And Your weapons can't do it
So hear this!

Throw down your arms and come
Throw down your arms and come
Throw down your arms and come
Drop them
Put them away to stay

As I was from my old grandmother
Mother mother mother
She was from she usually say
children children children please obey

Throw down your arms and come
Throw down your arms and come
Throw down your arms and come
drop them
Put them away to stay
Put them away

I long to see you
I long to reason with you
I long to hold your hands in my hands
Can't you see
Can't you see?

Throw down your arms and come
Throw down your arms and come
Throw down your arms and come
Drop them!
Put them away to stay

12. My grandmother fled Ireland in the early 1900's.
"It's a beautiful place...to starve and be under the thumb of the priests." She told me, when I was a kid. She hated the rich landowners and the church equally. She came from a little village in Mayo.
