I do not not believe the repubs could really
cheat enough to pull off November. Rig 450 elections (approx) at the same time? - I think only Jesus Christ could do that - and then again, I look back at 2004.

Here is the thing, we could do this - if someone (s) did attempt to cheat, we really could catch them - and it is not that hard to do it.

I do think if there are 80,000 users here, 200 or better understand this could be done - in the most stand up way.

It has been pointed out to me, I don't clarify my thoughts - and they are probably right. I don't have a lot of time to do it.

But I know, sometime this summer, all hell is going to break lose for those kids - it really is.

SO - SPEAK UP!!

Joe

1. they tabulate the results . . . with no oversight . . .
and they don't need to rig 450 elections . . . only a selected number that will ensure that Republicans remain in control . . .

2. They don't need to do anything
The House districts are so gerrymandered up the ying-yang it is very unlikely that the Democrats can get a majority there. It ain't the "peoples house", it's the politician's house - and the Democrats are as complicit in this just as much as the repub's.

Senate is a different animal, no gerrymandering possible, but for the democrats to take a majority in '06 would be a miracle.

Best hope is for Democrats to make gains in '06 and then further gains in '08, for majorities in both houses of congress.

It's a war of inches, not miles.

3. NO. The Dems are NOT just as complicit in making the "people's
house" the politician's house as the Republicans. This Republican Party is profoundly worse than anything the Dems ever came close to and it is just a rightwing meme to say that there is no difference between the Dems and the GOP.

If we don't take back at least one House of Congress, this nation and the world are doomed. I plan to work hard for that. What are you going to do?

4. You misunderstand me
I did not say that there that there is no difference between Dems and the GOP. I said that both parties, at the state level, will gerrymander House districts to favour themselves. They will also strike deals with each other to protect their own incumbents, a mutual back scratching operation.

The nation and the world will not be doomed, whatever happens in the '06 elections. That is why we have periodic elections.

5. You seem to think that what the GOP has done lately is just
politics as usual and it is not. They have brought us to the brink of fascism and the Dems never even came close to that. What Tom DeLay did in Texas is utterly undemocratic and unprecedented.

Regarding the world being doomed, there is a thread from the previous week about how it might be too late to save the environment and it is the Republican Party who brought us there and the Democratic Party who fought for environmentalism.

We have periodic elections but they have been corrupted by Diebold, dirty tricks, etc. so badly that we can take no comfort in them unless we restore the sanctity of the vote.
