Poll question: Who runs the government?
The reason why Dems are not responding to polls in a nutshell.

Why are people here so surprised?

It's the same reason the media stopped serving as the Fourth Estate long ago.

2. that's why Dems out of power, they try to at least look like they are
looking after the public interest part of the time, which could possibly shave off one half of one percent of some corporation's profits.

That cannot be tolerated.

3. Other - The military-Industrial-Complex
Edited on Thu Mar-16-06 03:13 PM by PhilipShore
Military-industrial complex
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military-industrial_complex

The term military-industrial complex usually refers to the combination of the U.S. armed forces, arms industry and associated political and commercial interests, which grew rapidly in scale and influence in the wake of World War II, although it can also be used to describe any such relationship of industry and military. It is sometimes used to refer to the iron triangle that is argued to exist among weapons makers/military contractors (industry), The Pentagon (military), and the United States Congress (government).

Origin

The term was first used publicly by President of the United States (and former General of the Army) Dwight D. Eisenhower in his Farewell Address to the Nation on January 17, 1961:

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

11. Point taken
But its still the commercial interests running the show, dictating where the military should be sent. If it weren't for oil, would we really have much interest in the ME? Dictators are brutalizing their people all over the place. Heck, we even set some of them up.

Militarism
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Militarism

Militarism or militarist ideology is the doctrinal view of a society as being best served (or more efficient) when it is governed or guided by concepts embodied in the culture, doctrine, system, or people of the military. Militarists hold the view that security is the highest social priority, and claim that the development and maintenance of the military ensures that security. Militarism connotes the drive to expand military culture and ideals to areas outside of the military structure —most notably in areas of private business, government policy, education, and entertainment.

Militarism is ideologically, rooted in or related to concepts of supremacy, loyalism, extremism, alarmism, protectionism, and nationalism (or patriotism), expansionism and Imperialism...

25. One more time.
'We The People' have become subjects to the Corporate Government Store, which is a national version of the Company Store. Corporate America has merged with the United States Government, and 'We The People' no longer have a controlling interest in the government. Over the last few decades, the New Deal has been slowly rewritten to be used against and enslave working Americans and the majority of the country. Unless you were born into a wealthy family or have defied the odds to become wealthy, you will never be "free" again, because you are owned by the Corporate Government Store.
