Dean petition (Allard): Stop Attacking Patriotism of Feingold

http://www.democrats.org/page/s/allard

Stop Attacking Russ Feingold

Republicans are so scared of having a legitimate debate about Iraq or national security that they have only one reaction to news of their failures or calls for accountability.
On Monday, Democratic Senator Russ Feingold introduced legislation to censure the President for breaking the law by creating a secret domestic spying program. Agree or disagree with his proposal, as a Senator -- and as an American -- he has the right to speak his mind and express his views without Republican Senators questioning his patriotism.
But that's exactly what happened. This week Republican Senator Wayne Allard of Colorado, in an interview with Fox News radio, said in response to Feingold's action that he has "time and time again with the terrorists".
Send a message to Senator Allard: shame on him for questioning the patriotism of another Senator. Sign this petition and it will be delivered to Allard:

6. I'd like to spend a day in republican school for politicians
Say something outrageous alot. It will deflect from our failings and the base loves it. Wear a flag lapel pin and say God Bless You and Praise Jesus alot. Don't worry about lying, the base will never know. When in doubt smile and obfuscate, the base is incredibly ignorant and you can easily get away with it.

I love it when a "conservative" questions my patriotism. Funny, but in the last three + years not one of them has ever repeated the attempt.

This is important.

My message to Allard was
along the lines of since he doesn't support American's rights for freedom of speech,
he was the one that is siding with the terrorists.

9. My message to Allard --
I didn't see the point in being polite and mincing words.
Allard you are a low-life pipsqueak. Saying that Senator Feingold sides with the terrorists is the kind of tactic that only a pusilanimous scumbag such as yourself would indulge in.

When I look at you, and think that to some, you represent the United States of America, I feel a terrible sense of shame. I regret that there are no words to express how disgusting you are. You would make vomit nauseous.

11. My comments on the petition
You should be ashamed of yourself Mr. Allard. How Un-American of you to try and quash the right of Senator Feingold to express his own opinion, an opinion that is shared by many Americans. Republicans like yourself have played the "terrorist" card one too many times. Your comment, that Senator Feingold has "sided with the terrorists" is extremely distasteful and absurd. The fact is, Republicans like yourself are covering up for this GOP culture of corruption and in doing so you have FAILED to uphold the Constitutional oath to provide oversight of the Executive branch of the U. S. Government. You should be ashamed of yourself. You are the one who is acting against the U. S. Government and its people...the same thing goes for those who side with you - you are all Un-American. Your comments are extremely transparent and appear desperate; not to mention, they are tired and worn out from overs use by people like you. Senator Feingold is doing his job and he has a right to his opinions and a right to express them...it's called freedom of speech, remember? Freedom of Speech is a right guaranteed to all Americans in America.

12. This was in Allard's local newspaper today:
Allard's linking of senator, terror "out of bounds"
Apology sought for Feingold remark
By Anne C. Mulkern
Denver Post Staff Writer

Washington - Activist groups, bloggers and Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean on Wednesday castigated Sen. Wayne Allard for saying that another senator sides with terrorists.

In an interview first broadcast Monday, Allard told Denver radio station KOA-AM reporter Roger Hudson that Sen. Russ Fein gold, D-Wis., "has time and time again taken on the side of the terrorists that we're dealing with in this conflict."

<snip>

"Senator Allard's comments were unfortunate," Feingold said in a statement Wednesday. "Supporters of the illegal domestic- spying program know they don't have a legal leg to stand on, so they are reduced to questioning the patriotism of those who point out the simple truth that the president is breaking the law."

17. My message to Allard
Enough is Enough! McCarthy died years ago. Don't attempt to resurrect his ghost by calling Senator Feingold "anti-American". It embarrasses YOU more than it does him and shows all of America just how you want to play "politics" in the shadow of McCarthy by labeling another American, another elected official no less, of being a "terrorist sympathizer". Grow up and face the issues of the day and stop looking for someone to batter because you have lost your moral compass. History will remember those that lead with fear rather than courage. Which one do you want them to remember you as? Fear is not leadership nor compliance admirable. Only when we stand up for our civil liberties and our freedoms with courage can our nation survive this McCarthy Revisited episode in our nations history. "At long last, have you no decency sir?"
