Bush Sees Iran As Possibly Greatest Threat
Bush Administration's National Security Strategy Reaffirms Pre-Emptive Use of Military Force

President Bush said Thursday Iran may pose the greatest challenge to the United States and diplomacy to thwart the Islamic nation's nuclear program must prevail to avoid confrontation.

In a 49-page national security report, the president reaffirmed the strike-first, or pre-emptive policy he first outlined in 2002. Diplomacy is the U.S. preference in halting the spread of nuclear and other heinous weapons, Bush said.

"If necessary, however, under long-standing principles of self-defense, we do not rule out the use of force before attacks occur even if uncertainty remains as to the time and place of the enemy's attack," Bush wrote.

"When the consequences of an attack with weapons of mass destruction are potentially so devastating, we cannot afford to stand idly by as grave dangers materialize. … The place of pre-emption in our national security strategy remains the same."

1. Ignorant idiot.
Anyone can see that China, North Korea, Russia, and even Pakistan are greater threats.

3. Shut up, Bush
Marine Corps Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff, said today he has no evidence the Iranian government has been sending military equipment and personnel into neighboring Iraq.

4. they are the greatest threat. shrub is less likely to invade the others.
that is why iran is the greatest threat to peace, because they have so much oil and a beatable military, at least to shrub's thinking.

5. So Bush sees Iran as greatest threat?
Edited on Thu Mar-16-06 08:55 AM by theHandpuppet
Yeah, and the Bushreich is doing so much to fan those flames they just may end up being right. As the saying goes, you reap what you sow and this adminstration is deliberately doing everything in its power to make sure a diplomatic solution is impossible. It's the surest way to achieve their desired result.

13. I think the vast majority of people, both home and abroad
See Bush as their greatest threat. I know I do, I know many former supporters that do, and judging by the polls lately, I would say most Americans do.

one illegal war,
all of the lies,
the billions of lost dollars,
2300+ lost American lives,
30,000+ lost innocent Iraqi lives,
is anyone really going to want to fight another one?

12. Bogeymen, bogeymen, so many bogeymen.

14. It must be awful to live in constant fear. Next, out greatest threat will
be the boogie man under the bed. The main reason I can't stand * is that he is the biggest, most obvious coward I've ever seen. Unfortunately, he's got half the country (once the land of the free and home of the brave) shaking in their shoes as well!
