Clooney, Huffington Clash Over Blog Posting - blog slapped...
'"It's not a misunderstanding, it's misrepresentation," he said. "She knows what she was doing. She was saying to people that she had George Clooney's blog and was printing it. George Clooney does not make statements. He answers questions."'

1. That's disappointing, if true.
I have no doubt that the blog represents what Clooney thinks. But if he didn't write it, it is misleading. The form was definitely that of a blog post, and the reader certainly got the impression that he wrote it verbatim.

5. after all she's been through, it would be hard to swallow huffington...
as the ultimate trojan horse, yet to expose clooney in a manner she knows would discount the gist of what he has been bringing to a sorely lacking debate these last years, would not be helpful.

she is media savvy, and clooney while no dumb guy, is only recently having to 'deal with it', at least to that extent.

is it all just a matter of, "my blog-o-sphere has a first name, it's b-o-l-o-g-n-a...", there is no sin of omission here, huffington knew perfectly well imo how it would play out

2. I still have and probaly will never have any respect for Arianna
Huffington....

She is just a shill for herself...

Switching sides the way she has, and do quickly and without any real justification, shows she can and does take any political position she thinks will make her controversial and therefor attractable to the media chatting class.....

Worse than Ann Coulter, in my opinion, because AC at least stays true to her chosen set of talking points....

3. Well said. I don't go to Huffington's site because it is filled with her
own bloated ego. Those who begin to believe too much in themselves quickly live to regret it. :hi:

4. I agree. I never go there because I don't like HER
although I've read some pieces from there via other sources, and they were good.

9. Well, I'll go out on a limb - I like Huffington Post. She is a lot like
David Brock who wrote "Blinded by the Right." Brock came to see the error of his ways and is determined to make amends. He founded Media Matters and the good he is doing is immeasurable. I like to think that everyone can reform their ways. Arianna is smart, well read and willing to take on the repug liars, how can you not like that? Just mentioning her name can cause freepers' heads to explode. I enjoy Huffington Post although I do think a lot of the "entertainment" news is too much fluff for such an interesting site.

Huffington did address the issue of Clooney's "blog" yesterday. She gave a detailed explanation on how his comments came to be posted. Seems there was a mix up between Clooney and the publicist for the movie "Syrianna." For a web site that has only been online since May 2005 she has done an incredible job of amassing a significant stable of writers who do a fine job of presenting the other side of the news.

Love Clooney, love Arianna, just wish they would get this cleared up, kiss and make up and get back to the business of holding people accountable.

10. Different strokes!
I guess I have strong memories of when she was a right winger and very opinionated, "dahling."

I respect that she has flipped, but maybe I don't quite trust it. She is, after all, in it for the money and she might be finding a better market.

But I wouldn't compare her to Coulter by any means.

14. maybe it is unkind of me, but I always felt she competed w Coulter when
she was a right-wing talking head. And Coulter always came out on top, with more bookings and more publicity. It would get frustrating if you wanted to be the mouth frothing temptress of the right wing and that blonde kept coming out on top!

Maybe somebody got frustrated and decided the market for left-wing talking heads was more open.

18. She says it was Al Franken who helped her come around.
Personally, I think ending her marriage to a gay man just helped her become more happy!

12. And Ricky Henderson will do what is best for Ricky Henderson at this
time, which is now for Ricky Henderson. Because Ricky Henderson is trying to be the best Ricky Henderson that Ricky Henderson shall want to, try to, be Ricky Henderson. Speaking of, I need to give that MotherF'r a call. Ricky, pick up the phone Ricky. Ricky it's me, you. Pick up the phone Ricky. Damn that man is never home.

Paraphrasing a David Cross bit because I find third-person speak hilariously pompous.

21. Clooney's latest statement today
from the N.Y. Daily News:

"She said some things that I won't share, but she did tell me that this could be bad for me - bad for my career. Well, screw you!" the movie star told me yesterday about a conversation he had with the doyenne of Huffingtonpost.com. "I'm not going to be threatened by Arianna Huffington!"

24. Arianna telling Clooney that it will be bad for his career
to state publicly that she used his byline to make it look like he wrote the blog is funny. He just won an Oscar and is a well respected director and actor. She is full of herself.

she's just lost what was once a very loyal reader.

I see her right wing claws are still filed and ready to scratch.
