something I noticed from todays Sunday shows
The Democrats really seemed calm and they had their stuff together today. The Republican guests seemed to have more trouble and the newcasters seemed to harass them more.

Anyone else notice this?

1. I don't know Stephonopoli

2. I'm not finished watching everything I TiVo'd, but George Allen
sure was stumbly on MTP when asked if he was a " Bush Republican". He stammered that he was a "Jeffersonian Conservative"!

He also stumbled when asked about Frist winning the straw poll.

3. A "Jeffersonian Conservative"?
LOL. They're running away pretty fast, aren't they? That doesn't even make sense.

4. George Allen doesn't make sense
They seem to think he's the new Reagan. And like Reagan, he's tall, good-looking, amiable, and a total dunce.

7. You think he's good-looking?
Yikes.

OK, he has a full head of hair, but that's it.

Dead eyes, ugly mouth, nose and neck.

Ugh.

9. By Republican standards, he's good looking
Remember, they think that * is quite handsome. They also think Coulter is a woman, but that's another matter.

19. my favorite part of Allen was on the abortion issue...
he said he favored leaving it to the states and if South Dakota wanted to outlaw abortion, even in cases of rape and incenst, they should be allowed to. Tim said: and if a state wants it to be legal in all instances, I guess you're saying that state should be allowed to do it too. And Allen looked like he'd swallowed his tongue. All he could say was: I can't imagine any state would want to allow it in the 3rd trimester.

I SO wanted Tim to ask: And if a state wants to legalize gay marriage is THAT okay? But, he really didn't need to. It was clear. Allen is for states rights when those states do what HE wants. And only then.

I missed Frist and Russ but my mom called immediately after all the shows were over to say "weren't the shows great this morning?" She felt it too. Not only didn't they totally trash the dems, as they usually do on Sunday morning these days, they had some good dem spokespersons on. From what I saw, it was better than usual.

8. I'd hardly call a man that advocated a revolution every generation
conservative. I'm also pretty sure he would volunteer to let shrubCo's blood nourish the tree of liberty this time.

16. A Jeffersonian Conservatve is a Conservative Democrat!
Jefferson's party eventually became the Democratic Party!
http://www.infoplease.com/ce6/history/A0857724.html

This group of Anti-Federalists, who called themselves Republicans or Democratic Republicans (the name was not fixed as Democratic until 1828), supported many of the ideals of the French Revolution and opposed close relations with Great Britain.

Led by Jefferson and his ally James Madison, the group had become a nationwide party by 1800

He doesn't know WHAT he is!

18. We have to be sure to use the correct term:
"Common-sense Jeffersonian conservative principles". The only mention of this term is from Allen's own website & he uses this phrase constantly. It makes no sense, but I'm sure it polls well.

15. In Virginia, NOBODY disses Jefferson.
Not even Repukes. Invoking the name of Jefferson is a scaramental incantation in Virgina.

17. The thinking is probably -
Jefferson is good, conservative is good, so being a "Jeffersonian conservative" is twice as good! He probably doesn't understand how contradictory that is. I didn't know much about George Allen, but he does seem to be a moron. But in the straw poll, he placed third for the Republican nomination!

20. He is a moran -- but that's what the corporatists want. (e.g. Shrub)
I think the McCain/Frist courtship is to placate the hoi polloi ... who'll toe the party line when the money men and power brokers flip the switch. (Neither McCain nor Frist will be their boy unless they foresee losing too big to fudge with Diebold, imho.)

23. They want nothing but a stuffed shirt.
Republicans want a puppet who will never want to make his/her own decision.

Reagan was the perfect front man for the republican criminal syndicate. His grandfather act really pulled in the sheep, who couldn't believe Saint Ronnie knew about any of the pervasive criminality of his administration.

Too many gullible people in this country. I truly fear for the Republic, if it isn't gone already.

22. Oh, I forgot . . . .
He also said he holds Jefferson's seat. Can't remember if he meant in the state assembly or the Congressional House.

Whichever, it gave me a shudder to contemplate that.

6. George Allen is another Moron
I would like to think the Repugs seemed shaky, but you can't use Allen as an example. He very rarely sounds like he knows what he is talking about.
