NEW MEME: Dems ARE strong on defense, GOP is strong on offense--
offending our democracy by using our military to enrich their friends which stirs up more hatred for the US.

There are few threats to our safety, but many temptations to use our military to make the wealthy wealthier.

To this end, Democrats should demand an economic benefit analysis before every use of our military or covert action.

Most of the time, our military hasn't been used to defend us, but instead because some sweatshop or plantation owner, or oil company has their knickers in a knot.

Workers demanding higher wages, farmers demanding land reform, or a country demanding it keep a greater share of its oil wealth is no threat to our safety. It is not even a threat to the wealth of the wealthy--it will just cut into their profit margins.

To avoid inflicting that minor pain on the comfortable, we overthrow democratic governments, burn the arms off kids with incendiary bombs, and salt the earth with depleted uranium so another generation won't rise up to defend themselves.

There would be no mullahs in Iran if we hadn't overthrown an elected president in the 1950s, and Saddam's worst atrocities and his war with Iran were committed with our aid as part of a long term plan to weaken both countries.

If we respect the right of other countries to govern themselves and make a decent living, we will be safer. Without firing a shot or occuppying one square inch of land.

I know most Democrats believe nothing of the sort and don't act on this belief--but they SHOULD.
