Nephew takes stand in support of Bush
When the political firestorm over Dubai Ports World broke out last month, President Bush's nephew sent the Houston Chronicle an electronic letter to the editor, defending his uncle's drive to allow the United Arab Emirates company to buy a firm that helps run six U.S. ports.

To the University of Texas at Austin student, opposition to the deal — it had been approved by the administration before being scuttled Thursday — sent an "ignorant and offensive" message that the owners were being discriminated against because they are Arab. The protests of Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., and other congressional leaders seemed "racially prejudiced," he said in the letter, which the Chronicle published.

Pierce, a graduate of the Kinkaid School of Houston, which President Bush attended, is the son of presidential brother Neil Bush and Sharon Bush of Houston.

(snip)

But would he be dashing off letters to the editor if they were critical of his uncle?

"In terms of him being pissed at me, I don't think it would be a good idea. In fact, I guarantee it wouldn't be," said the collegiate Bush, who's unsure if the president is aware of his letters. "If he was against the ports deal, I don't know if I would've written the letter."

3. If he really wants to support his uncle
there's probably an Army recruiter right on campus. He should show his support by signing up and requesting that they send his ass to Eye-rack.

4. Did his letter mention that Uncle George has been screaming about
'Muslim terrorists' for years now? That those people are 'taught to lie' and 'want to kill us'. And the Bushes are surprised that people don't want them running our ports?

7. Neil's been grooming Pierce for politics since an early age
Recall Pierce on Larry King when he was what? 13/14? And people, not sane ones, spoke of how articulate he was and how poised...

This letter is exposure...the article about the letter is just more exposure.

11. Is his name really "Pierce Bush"
or is that just a description of how he was conceived? Christ, the name reminds me of "Rollo the Rich Kid" in the old "Nancy" comic strip.

8. I don't care for rich kids
Never have. I don't trust people who are born into a life of wealth and privilege. And no, John Kerry was not my first choice for the Democratic nomination.

10. Nepotism has its constituency
which, unsurprisingly, tends to staunchly support the uncles that can make them rich and powerful too.

15. Good. Let all of the Bushes support Unka George.
Line them all up in support of Dubya. Then if they ever decide to run for public office, through their support of GW in the ports scandal in their faces.
