Dead Dubai Deal Dumps US in Doody..
Apparently they are now "not going to cooperate" and will "rethink their level of cooperation"..

How arrogant of *² and his guys to NOT handle this on the QT, and save all of us the embarrassment.

He somehow managed to offend people who are very "tied into" their perception.. We all know they are not clean-handed, but they were at least cooperating to some degree on the terror thing, and since junior was not bright enough to set up this obvious solution long before the "deal" closed, he has now created even more enemies for us..

He chose to toss the republicans a bone instead, thinking that this would invigorate them and make them appear brave to their folks back home, and in the end he would still egt his way.. He forgot about the beast he created.. That beast's name is Xenophobia, and once unleashed, it's practically impossible to harness again..

Just like everything he touches, he has messed up another one, and potentially ignited yet another torch in the middle east...

3. Over, as far as the press goes..
They are not a very nuanced bunch these days.. I hope they stay on it, but I think it just festeres underground for a while, and then Halliburton quietly "offers to help".:puke:

5. Jeez
I'd swap 'nuanced' for 'intelligent,' but no one's making me that offer.

No, it'll be Dubai-owned, and a sham US corporation will operate it.

But, Dubai's gonna get everything it wanted.

7. That's what I think, and the press won't report it because
they already told us that matter has been resolved.

Keep watching.

15. The press........
I'm breathless tonight at how stupid they are.

The depth and curiosity of a bag of hair, that's what they have.

16. Stupid or submissive?
I think they are doing what is expected of them. (By the people who pay them.)

6. Dubai would have to go missing on Aruba at this point.
At least, that's what I fear.

14. Yes indeed. Rummy plans to bring the Military in ASAP!!!!
That will errase any more exposure to the crimes that are presently
occurring on the docks of these ports right now!!!

And who is this New US entity that will take them over?

And how secure are these ports after all?

My Suggestion to all who live near these ports.....
keep your cameras rolling 24/7.

9. Remember the pictures of * walking hand-in-hand with the Saudi King?
It looked kind of like they were passing notes to each other, probably about the Deal.

10. My opposition isn't xenophobia
Edited on Thu Mar-09-06 07:50 PM by RazzleDazzle
UAE has been involved in terrorism, period. Far more than Iraq ever was prior to now.

My opposition also extends to ANY foreign port operator, privately owned or govt-owned/associated. In fact, I'm actually against them being privatized at all. I think the security requirements for ports are far too high to allow any foreign concerns especially, but also corporations (whose first allegience is to PROFIT) to run them.

Of course, I do realize that SOME of the opposition, esp. on the right, is xenophobic and anti-semitic as well.

Oh, I wanted also to say: I think their attitude now just confirms and validates that ALL the opposition they received was entirely appropriate and well-placed. If they are such great friends they'd understand and NOT try to retaliate in some way. The fact that there's any instinct for retaliation proves them to be unsafe partners for such an important role in OUR national security anyway. Shame on them, but boy! how 'bout those Americans, not all of whom can be fooled all of the time.

11. That's why the deal should have never been viable in the first place
but once out of the box, so to speak, the collateral damage to what;s left of our reputation in the middle east , has just been dealt another blow..

infrastructure should NEVER be "for sale" to outsiders.. Our energy, ports, communications, food distribution/production, water supply, steel production, and banking industry should ALWAYS be in US hands

12. The "dead deal" bullshit meme is really pissing me off.
It's nowhere near being dead for Dubai!

http://www.khaleejtimes.com/DisplayArticle.asp?xfile=data/theuae/2006/March/theuae_March303.xml§ion=theuae

BushCO's just gonna create a facade for Dubai.

Geez, stop allowing the meme-creators control your mind. :eyes:

Edited on Thu Mar-09-06 07:55 PM by SoCalDem
I guess I should use :sarcasm: more :)

but the predictable furor has only ignited more hatred of us in the middle east.. I guess if you're *² you can never have too many people hating you..
