Support Reid and write letter re NSA spying
Edited on Wed Mar-08-06 06:59 PM by medeak
Dear

It was no surprise to me that the Republican-controlled Senate Intelligence Committee has once again caved to George Bush and refused to open an investigation into President Bush's domestic spying program. One is left to wonder what it would take to make this Republican Congress stop rubberstamping the Bush Administration and actually do real oversight.

Last week 30,000 of you joined me asking for an Independent Katrina Commission. We need to expand our call beyond Katrina and demand that the Bush Republicans in Congress do their job, stop looking the other way and conduct oversight of this administration.

We need to take our message directly to the American people. This week, help me send 20,000 letters to the editor demanding the Republican Congress do its job and conduct oversight of the Bush Administration.

Send a letter to the editor by visiting:

We cannot effectively legislate on the NSA spying issue if we do not know the facts, and we will not know them if the Republican-controlled Intelligence Committee persists in refusing to do its job. My colleague, Ranking Member on the Intelligence Committee, Senator Jay Rockefeller, said it best:

"For the past three years, the Senate intelligence committee has avoided carrying out its oversight of our nation's intelligence programs whenever the White House becomes uncomfortable with the questions being asked.

"The very independence of this committee is called into question as we are continually prevented from having a full accounting of pre-war intelligence on Iraq, the CIA's detention, interrogation, and rendition program, and, now, the NSA's warrantless surveillance and eavesdropping program.

"If we are prevented from fully understanding and evaluating the NSA program, our committee will continue its slide into irrelevance."

We need to act if Congress is ever going to hold the Bush Administration accountable.

Thank you,

Harry Reid

3. Agreed
The Demos should shut it down on the NSA spying issue because it's really all about allowing the Bu$h regime to basically tap anyone's ph., e-mail, cell phone, mail. These guys think if your against them politically that allows them to spy on u! It's the same crap that Nixon tried to pull off and got caught and had to quit. That's what Watergate was really about. Not just a 2 bit robbery. The Bu$h gang is 10X's worse then Nixon though. These ass klowns are totally in comptempt of the law of Congress and the courts when they decide the want to do something. Even many rethugs are starting to see how radical this gang is. Nevertheless, they won't go after him on the NSA thing and I believe because he has the "goods" on everyone in Congress and they're terrified of having their dirty laundry outted by Bu$hCo. The Plame case showed all of them that NOBODY was off limits to these thugs and they didn't give a shit about Nat'l security or anything else. All Bu$hCo cares about is POWER and $$$.

5. The spying is also my biggest worry. If Congress lets them get
away with this, what's next? They should demand answers and accept nothing less.

7. The Dems are spineless jelly fish
The DC Dems are a disgrace to give this man and his criminal gang anything at this pt. after all they know and all we've all seen. My only guess is they are afraid in an election yr. to look "soft" on terrorism. Terrorism being today's equivalent for Communism. It sucks because all terrorism is is another endless fucking war to keep the war mongers and their buddies firmly in power and in our wallets. Eisnhower's nightmare is now a reality for all practical purpsoes we now live in a Nat'l Security dictatorship and I highly doubt that will ever change again in our life times.
