BREAKING: Is the Navy warning us here...
There's a lot of chatter about this on other forums:
http://snipurl.com/standing_down

Lots of chatter about March 11th and March 20th -- are you concerned?

3. No. They have done this periodically to address accident rates.
Remember when in the 1980s the ENTIRE fleet had a 'standown'?

It's a navy thing.

4. Yep, this is not uncommon at all. All branches do some sorts of
standdowns at periodic intervals. They even did them for sexual harassment training after the Aberdeen Army scandals broke.

6. This Is An Attempt To Put Out A New Meaning Of The Term "Stand Down".....
this is so *Co can use this as a defense for their upcoming 'impeachment' trials when the Dems win back the House and Senate.

*Co will argue the 'stand down' on 9/11 was precautionary and to check equipment - not to not defend our country from the events of the day.

8. In the 1980's, late 80's, CH 46's world wide were ordered to a stand down
Edited on Wed Mar-08-06 12:20 PM by caligirl
after an accident in Hawaii in my hubbys sqdrn(262) a pin in the rotor head developed cracks and the rotor head blew apart in mid air killing two of our pilots, went down off Kailua beach. Because of this massive stand down approximately 44 other Ch 46's were also found to have cracks in the rotor head pin that were accidents about to happen. In our case it was the front rotor head. One pilot was an only child from Boston whom we liked so much we chose our sons middle name because of him, Andrew.
