What are the chances of this in the future? President De Lay
If he wins in November, I think he could be unstoppable and the proposition is scary. A win might give him the motivation to run for the White House in '08. Maybe I'm just wearing a tin-foil hat, but this is something I'm really afraid of. It seems like all of Texas really adores him, but I'm not sure about the rest of the nation.

6. In the 1980s, all people talked about was how the Japanese. . .
were going to take over the world. They had the organization, the money, the drive . . . real estate and financial holdings such as no one had seen before . . . indeed, they had everything going for them with no negatives and no foreseeable impediments to their ambitious dreams. That was in the 1980s. Since then, bupkis. Oh, they still have a presence on the world stage, and considerable economic clout, but it's nowhere near what it used to be and it'll be years, if ever, before they approach those lofty heights again.

My purpose is to illustrate a simple fact of existence too often lost sight of on these boards (and in society in general, as well) -- and that is that everything is transitory, all life is in a state of constant flux, and if there's any lesson to be learned, any comfort to be found, in life's daily grind, it is to always keep foremost in your mind the knowledge that this, too, shall pass. Abraham Lincoln found this thought to be the only concept true and appropriate in all times and situations, chastening in the hour of pride, consoling in the depths of affliction. I hope you'll find -- as I do -- that it girds me for the coming struggles and provides uncontested hope in eventual success.

8. They won't.
DeLay did the unforgiveable--he got caught. The GOP won't give him a second chance to look stupid.
