Either we are going to contract like a white dwarf star, becoming a black hole, from which no light or energy may escape, or we are going to explode like a supernova and destroy much of what has been created which is good and proper. All of the scandals, all of the represssion of real freedoms, the co-opting of what used to be known as higher truth, the debasement of intellectualism and sophisticated culture, the loss of respect for the principles upon which the country was founded, the pandemic of hatred and vitriol, have sent us into a crisis from which we may not recover. Our technology has been used against us, we are distracted by all of the options for entertainment, the news medium is just commentary by big business, the Internet and talk radio are spreading lies and hatred at an exponential rate. It's not an issue of being a cynic or a paranoiac, it's just the bottom falling out.
