"Entitlement Orphanages" I can't WAIT to hear the whining about the money
being spent on "Entitlement Orphanages" after thousands/millions of unwanted children are born. Do any of you remember all the orphanages this country use to have? I do...VIVIDLY.

I'll never forget the year my father's steel plant had a Christmas Party for the HUNDREDS of unwanted orphans at a local Orphanage. I was 7 years old and I remember it like it was yesterday and at 50, with few memory cells left, that's something. I believe that was my awakening to empathy for others. I'll never forget the looks on the babies faces, the 2, 3, 4, 5 ,6, 7,8, 9 year old faces as they sat on Santa's lap and as they opened their gifts. I will never forget it. However, the ONE thing that happened at this orphanage made a huge impact on me. It was the first time in my life I had ever seen my big, tough dad cry. Why did he cry? There was the cutest little 4 year old boy at the orphanage who walked up to my dad, just crawled up on his lap and asked him, "Will you adopt me, please?" My dad was speechless. We were, at the time, a family of 4 kids and mom and dad just couldn't afford to adopt another child nor did our small trailer have the room for one more. We were already packed in there like sardines. My dad knew that and didn't know what to say to that precious little guy who only wanted a home. My dad drove home in tears that night and my parents anguished for weeks over whether or not they could adopt that little boy. It broke their hearts to leave him there. To this day I wonder whatever happened to him. Was he ever adopted? Or did he live the rest of his life there? That orphange closed YEARS ago....back in the 70s, coincidence? (Roe v. Wade) That orphanage is now a Day Care Center.

What will happen now? Will we have children living on the streets or will we now have a country full of "Entitlement Orphanages" (soon-to-be-repuke-spin) where thousands/millions of children will live their lives? I wonder how the RW religious wackos will like spending THEIR money on the orphanages? Those people have NO CLUE what kind of Pandora's Box they are opening. What happens when a street orphan is sick? Who will pay for that child when he goes to the hospital emergency room because he's deathly ill? What happens with all the unwanted children who are disabled? Who will care for them? What about the THOUSANDS of orphans that already exist? As long as someone has a blond, blue eyed PERFECT child, it will more than likely be adopted, but what about the disabled, black and ethnic babies? Where will they go? Will we have a country full of street children or a country full of orphanages that has to be paid for some how? What are the nut job's plans for the children who never get adopted? WHO WILL TAKE CARE OF THEM? WHO WILL PAY FOR THEM? I think we'll have a country full of orphanges again and then the repukes will be crying about having to give THEIR money to those "ENTITLEMENT ORPHANGES."

What a bunch of damn fools they are. I wonder how many of them have spent 1 minute in an orphanage? I wonder how many of them have ever visited a ghetto? I wonder how many of them have ever walked down a street full of homeless people? I TRULY HATE THESE PEOPLE. I HATE them. I HATE them. I HATE them.

1. And in a related issue
Those who value life want to keep people hooked up to machines for years on end, ruining their family financially. Those folks insisting on valuing life should be locked in an Alzheimer's Ward of a nursing home for a month and find out how valuable that life is.

2. I think they're such insensitive jerks that all they think about,
in regards to this, is (1) the parents, especially the woman, shouldn't have been having sex anyway, and (2) the parents SHOULD (a four-letter word if ever there was one!) take care of those children. Pull themselves up by their own bootstraps, right?

They don't think as far as you have, about the orphanages and the needs of the children there. And yes, they probably will do a lot of bellyaching about "their taxes" going to pay for them.

For these insensitive people, it's all about ME, ME, ME.

15. Here ya go:
Last December, construction began at DeLay's "Rio Bend," a 50-acre plot of donated cow pasture on the banks of the Brazos River in Richmond, Texas. Construction is well under way on nine homes and a chapel in what the DeLays envision will provide permanent homes and a sense of community for 48 foster children and their families from Fort Bend County. Rio Bend might eventually hold 192 kids.

Using a nonprofit charity as a conduit to encourage campaign contributions. It's no wonder his mother no longer speaks to him.

4. Wow. Sounds like your dad was (or is) a very nice man.
And you may be correct about these orphans, should Roe vs. Wade be overturned. One thing I am sure it would do is to increase the crime rate. I mean, if a kid needs to stay alive and has no other means to do so, he or she can, and likely will, resort to robbery. None of us wants that. But then the private prison industry will thrive, and I believe the bushies may have $ invested there somewhere too. "Entitlement Orphanages". You just gave them a new talking point. Interesting term.

7. My dad was a kindhearted soul. He died last year.
:(

He was also a Democrat who DETESTED Bush. He was a lifelong Democrat. IMO, that's why that little boy affected him in such a profound way. HE CARED. We all know repukes care about NO ONE but themselves.

5. but don't fret, the precious white newborns will always find a home
Edited on Tue Mar-07-06 09:02 AM by FLDem5
its just the 'undesirables' - those children with handicaps, past a certain age, the wrong color - who wait to be adopted now.

I think that we should propose a new law, if you apply to adopt a white newborn, you must also take a special needs child. This is sarcasm - please read this statement as such before you yell at me.

FWIW - where I lived, we had a home for "unwed mothers" that girls lived in until their babies were born.

Interested in why this home was built?
http://webpub.allegheny.edu/group/mystics/Mystics/AlmostSaints/FBInvestigation.html
<snip>
He founded a home for unwed mothers after he learned that each summer when the Buffalo River was dredged infant bones were found from babies that had been drowned.

... yeah, all unwanted babies get adopted if they are born.

6. It's maddening that people can't see the full ramifications
of attacking women and attempting to control them.

It's not just women they're hurting.

and later these same sickos will claim they never knew of those "unintended" consequences - even though the truth is staring them in the face now.

8. No whining - once you're born, you're on your own -
They only care about the UNBORN -

Once you're an actual baby, tough luck!

9. With everything else being outsourced, why not orphans?
Edited on Tue Mar-07-06 09:41 AM by TechBear_Seattle
:sarcasm:

Ship them off to India or Malaysia or some other third world country, where they can be housed and fed for pennies a day. When they get old enough to run a sewing machine, they can be put to work in the sweatshops making $120 shoes and $200 designer knock-offs. With the vast supply we would have for export, there would be no need to require any of those pesky safety regulations; for every one that becomes too maimed to work, we can ship them three at wholesale prices. As for those who can not or will not work... who is going to notice yet another street beggar in a third world country?

12. I know your post was meant as sarcasm, but

you made me think of another angle to this anti-abortion issue...MORE CHILDREN FOR THEIR CHILD PORNO RING. The repukes are deep into child porn, rape, incest and child trade for sex here and in other countries. Perhaps That's Their goal? MORE CHILDREN FOR THEIR CHILD PORN TRADE INDUSTRY? Well, IF they're the right color and not disabled, that is. I'm NOT being sarcastic. I'm DEAD SERIOUS. No one would ever know what happened to that unwanted baby the girl down the street gave to that mysterious man who came to take it away.

10. They don't care
These sick ass freaks don't give a rat's ass about the consequences of their warped way of thinking. All they care about is punishing and controlling women, driven by their hatred of them. Tough luck on kids in orphanages, or born of women who cannot afford to properly care for them, these babies only had rights as fetuses, now that they are actual babies, who cares, the baby and mother are on their own. It's on to the next fetus for these sick asses.

14. You're welcome. My dad was a sweetheart.
I had abortion on my mind ALL NIGHT last night and woke up this morning with the orphanage story on my mind. I just needed to share it. It touched me and remains with me all these years later. I don't think we want to go back to those days. It was sad and so unfair for the children who lived it.:(

20. Very very sad :(
I was looking at a foster kids website the other day, there are just so many sweet little kids out there who just want a home and to be loved. If the anti-abortionists have their way this number will skyrocket :(

19. "The Children of Christ Home" or "The Children of Believers Home"
or "The SAVED Children Home" or "The Children Blessed Because Roe v. Wade was overturned Home" or "They are Blessed Because of Us Home" or "Christ's Children Home" or "The Roe Home for Children" or "Tom Delay's Home of Christ's Children"....you're probably right. I still wonder how the freepers will like their money going to the "homes for children?" or to help pay for their care in whatever capacity that is?
