South Dakota Running Tourism Spots
right after during local news and after Nightline.

It's that time of year, when SD starts their campaign to get us in Colorado to come visit the state of Mt. Rushmore.

Now every time I see that TV spot, I will think of South Dakota, the first state who took women's health choices back to the dark ages.

6. If you want to call...

... the driving force behind the South Dakota Abortion Bill, let Leslie Unruh at 1-800-99-ALPHA know about your feelings and where to send the coat hangers to.

7. this is the contact info I got for the economic development and tourism
board:
Marty Davis
711 E Wells Ave
Pierre, SD 57501
605-773-3301
605-773-3256 (fax)

I have called and said that since they are such a woman-hating state, none of the women I know, nor any of our groups, are going to be spending any money up there.
(also time to resurrect the old boycott days-what, if anything, does SD produce that we can target?)

9. now that's an idea i really dig!
the only problem is often the rez economy is monopolized by the trade store at the border. and the trade store is often controlled by non-native american owners who just suck up the money out of that community. also there's the issue of certain dangerously corrupt tribal councils in several rez (IIRC SD pine ridge has been notorious for ages). it'd take a while to figure out which rez's are best to drop off your dollar. NA people need help, lots of help, so i dig this idea. unfortunately i'm not current in my knowledge about the communities there. perhaps those local to the area can let us know which rez's are best to visit on the way driving past SD. SD state forum? NA forum? dunno...

8. I actually was going to visit the Black Hills this summer.
But now I'm not and I'm telling them why. It's not a cheap trip either, they can kiss my money good bye. Generally, I try not to let the state politics effect my travel plans but when something this fucking insane comes up you have to make a stand on principle.
