CNN Calls War on Terror "So-Called" On Home Page
How fast until this disappears (bold is mine):

Here is the pic and text:

U.S. President George W. Bush gains reassurances from Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf that Pakistan is doing everything it can to help in the so-called war on terror -- and that both sides will remain in close coordination in the hunt for al Qaeda terrorists.

http://www.cnn.com/

Also, Howard Fineman in his latest article uses quotes around the phrase (he also put quotes around "the homeland.")

The main reason of course, is that the simple, black-and-white solutions that the president sketched for us in the "war on terror" haven't materialized. Most Americans now consider the war in Iraq to have been a mistake, one that has made us less secure here in what is now called "the homeland."

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11623419/site/newsweek/

I will never forgive the media for shirking their duties for 5 years. But that doesn't mean I can't take great pleasure in little tidbits like those above.

Ain't life grand?

1. Meanwhile, the US wastes billions of dollars and lives each week
in Iraq on nothing.

2. It's not for nothing...
It lets Bush use "We are at War" to excuse every criminal act he and his administration has committed.

3. In our next
reincarnation when we bring sanity back to this country if we do not instantly get rid of that nasty, suggestive, creepy name of homeland I am going to raise a stink.

We need to return to the language of democracy and equality and acceptance. Homeland my ass, everytime I hear it I get shivers and think of large showers and boxcars.

5. I hated that phrase the first time I heard it.
And I'm ashamed to admit I didn't know at the time that the same term had been used in
Nazi Germany.

It makes my skin crawl.

6. I believe
that was Fatherland but it is close enough. Nazi was the very first thought that came to my mind when it was uttered, of course Nazi is one of the very first things that came to my mind when I learned all about the Bush family oh so many years ago.

8. The unseen underlings are having fun, but may lose their jobs.
Back in the 19th century, I believe there was one occasion in which a copy boy at the London Times inserted some playful remarks into an article about the Queen meeting a foreign dignitary. The paper's readers were startled to read that the Queen leaned over to her visitor and remarked, "Let's F**k". It got a lot harder to pull such stunts after that.

10. It's because there is no war on terror
The senate never voted to approve a "war on terror" therefore there is no real war. That's probably why they're using "so-called."
