Anyone else watching the pursuit of the stolen police SUV in LA?
Listening to the commentators go on and on about how LA County Sheriff's department no-chase policy is seriously endangering the public is almost painful.

1. Maybe if they didn't glamorize the chases....
the chases would decrease....

9. Because it's news?
You know unusual stuff that happens that people would like to know about? That's called "news".

7. I think that's most of CNN's problem with the no-chase policy
All they have is footage of one vehicle driving around. The driver hasn't hit anything--hasn't even come close to hitting anything--and the commentators just can't believe that there hasn't been the big PITT maneuver, a big cop chase. Oh the humanity!!!

6. Statistics support that chases endanger the public far more.
Sounds like the Deputies can't stand letting the next county get the bust.

8. It's not the deputies--It's the CNN commentator

Gotta have that high-speed chase!!! Get the crash and the take-down!! Not chasing the the vehicle at high speed is endangering the public!!! Be afraid!! The liberals are soft on crime!!!

On edit the commentator is a former LAPD officer. They know how to handle this kind of situation: PITT that vehicle, drag that bitch out and beat the living shit out of her. The candy-ass Sheriff's Department is clearly a bunch of soft-on-crime liberals.

11. I wish someone would come on to present the other point of view
Some commentator needs to present the driver's point of view to make the news more fair and balanced. It shouldn't just be all pro-police.

No crashes, no injuries. Minimal damage to stolen vehicle. Gee that no-chase policy is just horrible.

I agree; The uber-authoritarian ex-cops they get for these kinds of things are almost a self-parody.
