THIS IS A STATE THAT WANTS TO BAN ABORTION!!! Read this!!!
Special needs children ASKED TO BE CAGED? OMG...this story is a perfect example of why unwanted children should never be born. They live in poverty, they're endlessly abused and they suffer at the hands of SICK people like these. They ASKED to be caged?

Ohio Woman Says Kids Requested Cages
By CONNIE MABIN, Associated Press Writer

NORWALK, Ohio - Some of the special-needs children who slept in cage-like beds fitted with alarms had asked for the structures to be built, their adoptive mother testified at a custody hearing.

Sharen Gravelle testified Wednesday that she and her husband Michael built bunk beds and attached a wooden playhouse the family called a club house for some of the children's toys.

The other children then requested them and the couple felt the brightly painted beds enclosed with wood and wire helped keep them from getting into trouble at night, she said.

The couple have pleaded not guilty to several charges, including child endangerment, in a separate criminal case. The custody hearing was scheduled to resume Thursday.<snip>

2. I go along somewhat with the premise
of your thread except for "unwanted children should never be born." Sounds too dark for me.

3. This is how I would put it:
A state that wants to enforce the birth of unwanted children needs to do MUCH better taking care of the children it already has.

5. WHY? It's the truth.
This is the kind of thing that happens when children are born to women who wanted a an abortion and couldn't get one. The children are the ones to SUFFER the result of that.

7. Legislation is going to be passed to ban it.
They were waiting for ScAlito and Roberts to be seated on the SCOTUS. When Ohio passes it, it goes to the SCOTUS on appeal. Are you in Ohio? If you are, start SCREAMING.

11. Legal abortions in all 50 states (as of today)
did nothing to stop this abuse. So where's the logic?

9. That's why I somewhat accept the premise.
Edited on Thu Mar-02-06 12:38 PM by mmonk
I'm adopted and also I have a son with learning disabilities. I can't get into judging one's life journey who hasn't been born yet. However, I agree about the state forcing women to carry pregnancies to term. I am for legal and safe abortions on the following principles; (1) I don't believe the state should force women to carry pregnancies to term and (2) Forcing women to go underground to unsafe and unclean conditions is a brutalization of women. We're on the same side though.

4. Please use some logic.
Ths could have happened in any state, even mine which is as blue as can be. It's a deranged individual spouting this shit, not the state. Conflating abortion and these people makes no sense.

8. Totally agree, cali.
There are nutty people in every part of the country, they don't pick just red or blue states to live in. Saying that "all Texans are gun-crazy" or "everybody in Oklahoma is a Jesus-freak" is just about the worst gross generalization anybody could be guilty of. There are probably plenty of nutty people walking the streets of NY, DC, and SF.
