Computer Expert in Flash Question
I am a bachelor level Graphic Arts Student who is having trouble with ActionScript. I am trying to put my interactive portfolio on cd and am using flash. How do I direct Flash to stop the timeline after an initial animation, and then define actions to the buttons after that? Such as different buttons directed to play specific timeline sequences after that?

Also, on a mac computer the grey area doesn't show up during the animation, but on pc I'm seeing graphics that extend into that area. Is there a way to change that on pc to only have the stage showing?

1. It's been awhile since I used Flash, but to stop the animation
assign the "stop" action in the last key frame: right click on the frame >insert key frame. Then right click on the key frame> action. Actions come up, choose "stop."

To make buttons work they have to be "symbols". Lasso the button then > modify> convert to symbols> buttons. Then you can assign them actions. Use "goto" to assign a scene to each button using the dropdown list under the actions pane.

You should be able to set your dimensions in modify> movie. You can also change the bg color.

Hope this helps.

3. stop(); & gotoAndPlay(frame);
attach this to the movie clip (button)

onClipEvent(mouseDown) {
gotoAndPlay(2);
}

attach this to the frame where you want the playhead to stop...
stop();

peace
