16. That's odd. Up here, Cingular had a better plan, and much cheaper
than T-Mobile. We had T-Mobile for 6 months and every 3rd call dropped. Cingular offers more and better coverage...and yet cheaper. It's funny how they market to different areas.

2. I have a personal vendetta against Ameritech (the old name for SBC).
Edited on Thu Mar-02-06 01:11 AM by MercutioATC
As strongly as I feel about unions, I will NEVER hold an Ameritech (or SBC or, now, AT&T or Cingular) account.

11. SBC Bought Ameritech
Don't get me wrong - SBC is the devil incarnate, but Ameritech was bought out by SBC (now calling itself AT&T).

6. Alltel too!
I'm so glad I dumped Verizon for Alltel.

Looks like they have Sprint on the list, too.

9. Was with AT&T for years...
loved them. Then Cingular bought them out, and the service went to crap. Literally overnight. Couldn't get reception anywhere. They replaced my phone. Still had to go out into my yard to take calls. And I don't have a home phone. Cell phone is for business and personal.

PLUS...they refused to credit back ANY of the hundreds of dropped calls I'd have a month.

Told them I wanted out of the contract. They refused. Told them that AT&T would credit back all dropped calls. Told them that because they would ROUND UP any call to the next minute, they were effectively stealing from me. "Well we're not AT&T anymore.", was the reply.

Asked for manager, total jerk. Finally said, "Do I need to contact the FCC?". IMMEDIATELY their whole tone changed. Let me out of my contract right away. Guy even told me that they weren't using the old reliable AT&T network, they were attempting to build a whole new one in Colorado. I said, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it.".

Even admitted that they were losing customers right and left in Colorado.

I got Verizon and love them.

I myself take Union gigs all the time (IATSE). But I cannot support that company. Over the one year period that they were my carrier, I figured with their dropped call policy, and my large usage...they literally stole hundreds of dollars from me.

If they're good in your region, go for it. But I traveled with my phone all the time, and I found maybe two cities where the signal was strong and reliable.

10. I know, sounds like the story all of us have. Sorry to hear that.
cellhell.org (I think) is LOADED with these stories from all companies. Wireless companies are always the bottom of the barrel for customer satisfaction.

I wish we had Ma Bell back and they had a wireless system. My dad said we'd all regret letting Republicans bust up the Bell System. I know I regret it. Of course I was young and didn't think too far down the road.
Just so you know, Verizon is supposed to be rabidly anti-union.

12. Great news!
I don't currently even have a cell phone - I finally got rid of them a couple of years ago when I realized how little I actually used it. But if I get another, I'll definitely choose Cingular!

14. I've been a Cingular customer for about a year now...
And apart from the initial drama of having my number transfered from Sprint (those bastards didn't wanna let it go... it got nasty and i had to yell at people. it wasn't fun), i've had nothing but good things to say about the service. Great coverage (even in some really rural areas. i was shocked) for sure.

15. Oooh, I just might do that - thanks for the tip
Mistermonkey just switched to them, and I have been thinking about new service as my T-Mobile doesn't work well at home, which is rather inconvenient since we have no land line. I sort of have to lean up against this one particular window to make it work :eyes:

With this added benefit, I think my decision has been made.

Peace!
