Cartoonist Helps Launch 'Scooter' Libby Parody Site

NEW YORK Takebackthemedia.com and Buzzflash.com have launched a Web site that parodies efforts to raise money for the legal defense of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, the Cheney aide indicted for his alleged role in "Plamegate."

Micheal Stinson, a cartoonist and flash animator who co-founded Takebackthemedia.com, said "The Libby Defense Fund" parody site (http://libbydefensefund.com/index.htm ) "asks that people donate to worthwhile organizations instead of Libby." Stinson told E&P that those organizations include Greenpeace, Doctors Without Borders, and Gold Star Families for Peace, among others.

"Plamegate," of course, involved the leaking of the name of CIA operative Valerie Plame -- wife of Iraq War critic Joseph Wilson. She was "outed" in a 2003 column by Robert Novak of the Chicago Sun-Times and Creators Syndicate.

It was Buzzflash AND Takebackthemedia.com - Buzzflash had the brilliant idea, and purchased the domain, then approached me to create the site, after some noodling over the initial header for the look and feel, I spent 4 days straight, only getting 6 hours of sleep creating this, in a race against Libby :)
So that we could funnel money to IMPORTANT orgs that actually HELP people..

I think Buzzflash's concept is Brilliant, totally and we need to see more of this, TBTM has tried to adopt the Right Wing Playbook, use Adopt Progressive issues to fool the folks, then DO WHAT YOU WANT - and what we WANT is to help people..

Like when I created the ARMY OF ONE ad for MoveOn and then when Joe Scarborough interviewed me on his show he COULD NOT attack me, because all I had to say was, "Gee Joe, you don't want to support the troops?" - I called it a "Rovian" moment, where you have them cornered and they have to respond YOUR WAY..
