AP: 100,000 ERRORS REPORTED ON SEQUOIA VOTING MACHINES IN PALM BEACH, FL 2004 ELECTION!
Audit Shows Electronic Voting in Disarray, Thousands of Re-boots, Re-Calibrations Required Throughout Election

AP -- yes, AP -- is now reporting the just released audit information obtained from Palm Beach County, Florida's 2004 Election. And the picture of the Sequoia paperless touch-screen voting machines used that night is not pretty. To say the least...

1. I'm happy to see that, but do you have a link to the actual....

AP report? That is what we need to send out to all of the other media outlets and our representatives. I just don't think another reference to BBV will do it.

(Maybe I missed it when I checked your website...)

On Edit: I just saw Trumad's post with Miami Herald/AP link.

Watchdog Group Questions 2004 Fla. Vote

By BRIAN SKOLOFF, Associated Press Writer Thu Feb 23, 3:53 PM ET

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - An examination of Palm Beach County's electronic voting machine records from the 2004 election found possible tampering and tens of thousands of malfunctions and errors, a watchdog group said Thursday.

Bev Harris, founder of BlackBoxVoting.org, said the findings call into question the outcome of the presidential race. But county officials and the maker of the electronic voting machines strongly disputed that and took issue with the findings.

Voting problems would have had to have been widespread across the state to make a difference.
President Bush won Florida — and its 27 electoral votes — by 381,000 votes in 2004. Overall, he defeated John Kerry by 286 to 252 electoral votes, with 270 needed for victory.

BlackBoxVoting.org, which describes itself as a nonpartisan, nonprofit citizens group, said it found 70,000 instances in Palm Beach County of cards getting stuck in the paperless ATM-like machines and that the computers logged about 100,000 errors, including memory failures.

7. Let me ask somebody who knows this.
If these machines can be hacked with a laptop and since we know Diebold has fixed the results to be what they wanted them to be, why don't we use our hackers to fuck up the results by jamming them with Democrat votes ?

If we can't do it through the channels which we have pleaded with people to investigate, why don't we do it in a way they will understand?

Invalidate the elections entirely. I guarantee you that would prompt a nationwide investigation of those machines.

Does it require the memory card from the machine? Could this be done? We have already done it in several locations on a test basis.

17. They are so easy to be phished
nobody could tell who did what. That's the whole idea. Criminals show cops how to break into banks. I'm talking about doing something that would expose what has been going on. Even if it meant invalidating the entire election for the good of the country.

It could even be set up with journalists observing. They will never divulge what they see but the story will get out. We have to exploit their fraud in an extreme way.

We have already done it in tests.

18. bad for PR at least if u don't care about ethics...
a--the machines are controlled by Republican companies supported by Republican state politicians

b--we want to continue to illustrate that it is REPUBLICAN corruption that is behind 99% of this.

c--we want to clean up the system not corrupt it further. We want to be the good guys who fixed it

30. we can't do that
the republicans have tried to blame this on us since the year 1. In fact, In Fooled Again,
Mark Crispin Miller said that was the rationale that allowed the Republicans to rig the election. Democrats will steal the election, we'll act first and rig it so they won't be able to steal it. BUT along those lines, how about people with portable radios or devices
outside polling places that would jam anyone attempting to wifi the machines. Can this be done?

35. Not only that, the "insiders" who have access to the PROPRIETARY
software and hardware, are REPUBS!! Therefore, the hack factor is a LOT easier for the Repubs to accomplish.

37. I'm not a hacker, but I wouldn't have a problem with that if someone...
...did just that.

I've thought that might be the answer for a long time.

All you have to do is find a way to hack into the vote tabulator, once you figure that out, they say it's fairly easy, Diebold uses Microsoft Access.
